Development Programme.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The iVerify software was characterized as an \u201cautomated fact-checking tool that can be used to identify false information and prevent and mitigate its spread.\u201d The organziation will supply the technology to \u201cnational actors\u201d to aid them in identifying, monitoring, and responding to \u201cthreats to information integrity.\u201d <\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cThe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/u-n-introduces-automated-fact-checking-tool-to-combat-what-they-deem-misinformation\/\" title=\"U.N. launches 'automated fact-checking tool' to fight 'misinformation'.\">support package includes digital tools<\/a>, capacity building modules, partnership opportunities, and communication and outreach strategies amongst others,\u201d the U.N. said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>With the platform being actively utilized in Sierra Leone ahead of the country\u2019s general elections on June 24<sup>th<\/sup>, the automatic fact-checking tool could have an immediate influence on the rest of the world.<\/p>\n<p>The U.N.\u00a0claimed that the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) and the Independent Radio Network (IRN) will use the technology \u201cto strengthen national capacity to proactively identify and respond to misinformation, disinformation and hate speech.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote data-service=\"twitter\" data-category=\"marketing\" data-placeholder-image=\"https:\/\/c3.oann.com\/wp-content\/plugins\/complianz-gdpr\/assets\/images\/placeholders\/twitter-minimal.jpg\" class=\"cmplz-placeholder-element twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Misinformation, disinformation &#038; hate speech threaten peace &#038; security, disproportionately affecting those who are already vulnerable.  <\/p>\n<p>iVerify is our automated fact-checking tool that can help identify false information &#038; prevent its spread.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/NoToHate?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#NoToHate<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ura33T718V\">https:\/\/t.co\/ura33T718V<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/VJzj9VxNUo\">pic.twitter.com\/VJzj9VxNUo<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 UN Development (@UNDP) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/UNDP\/status\/1670461374151946240?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 18, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script type=\"text\/plain\" data-service=\"twitter\" data-category=\"marketing\" async data-cmplz-src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script> <\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The Sierra Leone initiative is also collaborating with BBC Media Action, which the U.N. claims will help with research as well as the creation of social media material \u201caimed at fostering media literacy and heightening awareness of mis- and disinformation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The system will develop specialized tip lines on platforms WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>With the backing of the Irish and Swedish embassies, as well as the California-based Internews, the iVerify system, which was first tested in Zambia in 2021, is slated to be deployed ahead of the October elections in Liberia.<\/p>\n<p>The non-profit Internews, formed by David Hoffman, who formerly identified as a Marxist, is substantially supported by the U.S. government, as well as George Soros\u2019 Open Society Foundations.
