Experts Weigh In\">falsifying business records<\/a> in connection with payments made during the 2016 presidential campaign.<\/p>\n<p>The Heritage Foundation has filed Freedom of Information requests under New York state laws to determine whether Bragg was actively plotting with congressional Democrats and if there were side deals cut for legal services.<\/p>\n<p>Mike Howell, director of Heritage\u2019s Oversight Project, contends Bragg was \u201ccoordinating, or otherwise communicating\u201d with Trump\u2019s political opponents, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/new-york-da-alvin-bragg-sued-after-refusing-release-trump-prosecution-records\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThe fact we have to file a lawsuit against Bragg who says he can\u2019t produce these records and says he doesn\u2019t have the systems to do so, is proof-positive of another dual standard of justice at play in this country,\u201d Howell said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou have a weaponized actor who\u2019s going after the former president on a loony theory about his document retention, whereas the DA can\u2019t even keep his own documents, and it\u2019s in violation of the information laws he is bound by,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s a hypocrite. He\u2019s wasting an exorbitant amount of New York\u2019s taxpayers\u2019 dollars to defend this now and delay it and obstruct it when he could\u2019ve just turned it over,\u201d Howell said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scribd.com\/embeds\/654056145\/content?start_page=1&#038;view_mode=scroll&#038;access_key=key-xuu56dW5gRqj1xj05U61\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">text of one lawsuit<\/a> noted that Bragg\u2019s prosecution of Trump has been attacked as a persecution.<\/p>\n<p>The suit said \u201cthese criticisms and the Congressional investigations featured front and center in reports that DA Bragg may have coordinated his case with President Trump\u2019s political opponents in the White House, the United States Department of Justice (\u2018DOJ\u2019), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (\u2018FBI\u2019), and Congress.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRegrettably, these questions have not been met with answers. These reports have raised concerns in many circles based in large part upon the longstanding history of President Trump\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/manhattan-district-attorney-alvin-bragg-sued-by-heritage-foundation-to-release-trump-case-records\/\" title=\"Heritage Foundation sues Manhattan DA Bragg for Trump case records release.\">political opponents coordinating<\/a> their activities to systematically weaponize the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/president-trump-please-pardon-jon-woods-a-victim-of-process-crimes-like-michael-flynn\/\" title=\"President Trump, Please Pardon Jon Woods, a Victim of Process Crimes Like Michael Flynn\">criminal justice system<\/a> against him and thereby pervert the course of Justice,\u201d the suit said.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit noted that the response to the FOIL request indicated that because the information was requested was linked to a pending prosecution, it was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/braggs-prosecution-trump-hits-big-potential-snag-judge-actually-last-person-selected\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">beyond the reach<\/a> of the state\u2019s law.<\/p>\n<p>However, the lawsuit said, there was no \u201cexplanation as to how on the current public record a communication with a Democratic Member of Congress could possibly be \u2018sealed\u2019 or \u2018grand jury\u2019 material.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scribd.com\/embeds\/654055932\/content?start_page=1&#038;view_mode=scroll&#038;access_key=key-pXznFJHX2aqWaFzm1Q0U\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">text of the second<\/a> lawsuit was that the office of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/marvel-stars-lawyer-takes-shot-alvin-bragg-da-refuses-look-irrefutable-evidence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Manhattan District Attorney<\/a>, under Bragg and his predecessor, apparently received \u201cmillions of dollars in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/adam-laxalt-officially-throws-his-hat-in-the-ring-to-be-next-nev-senator\/\" title=\"Adam Laxalt officially throws his hat in the ring to be next Nev. Senator\">free legal services<\/a> from Davis, Polk &#038; Wardwell LLP (\u2018Davis Polk\u2019), and Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton &#038; Garrison LLP (\u2018Paul Weiss\u2019).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese firms are involved in many different endeavors best characterized as \u2018political\u2019 and as major international law firms with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hes-a-hypocrite-alvin-bragg-slammed-with-2-lawsuits-at-once-over-trump-indictment\/\" title=\"Alvin Bragg hit with 2 lawsuits for Trump indictment, called a hypocrite.\">robust white collar defense practices<\/a>, clearly have an \u2018interest\u2019 in how the District Attorney of the County of New York conducts his affairs,\u201d the lawsuit said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPublicly available details of these apparently free legal services are incomplete and raise more questions than they answer,\u201d the lawsuit said.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuits want the documents showing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-alvin-bragg-fighting-tooth-nail-keep-control-trump-case-block-feds-getting-involved\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bragg\u2019s communications<\/a> with Democrats and the law firms \u201csubject to release under the New York Freedom of Information Law.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBragg crossed the Rubicon by indicting President Trump on a document retention dispute. Well, now he has a document retention dispute with us. We look forward to him being forced to comply with the law.
