The vehicle is the Army\u2019s first new combat vehicle in two decades, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stripes.com\/branches\/army\/2023-06-10\/army-combat-vehicle-m10-booker-10387122.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stars and Stripes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Powerful and Agile<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cThe M-10 Booker is an armored vehicle that is intended to support our infantry brigade combat teams by suppressing and destroying fortifications, gun systems, and trenches, and then, secondarily, providing protection against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-u-s-has-delivered-over-one-million-artillery-rounds-to-ukraine\/\" title=\"The U.S. Has Delivered Over One Million Artillery Rounds to Ukraine\">enemy armored vehicles<\/a>,\u201d program executive officer Maj. Gen. Glenn Dean said of the vehicle, according to The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2023\/jun\/17\/armys-vaunted-new-combat-vehicle-may-be-tank-or-ma\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Washington Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Booker combat vehicle clocks in at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/army-unleashes-new-assault-vehicle-firepower-of-giant-tanks-but-a-fraction-of-the-size\/\" title=\"New Assault Vehicle: Tank Power, Compact Size\">approximately 42 tons \u2014 considerably lighter<\/a> than the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-reversal-us-poised-approve-abrams-tanks-ukraine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">M1 Abrams<\/a>, which weighs more than 70 tons. The vehicle \u2014 armed with a 105 mm main gun, a .50 caliber Browning machine gun, and a 7.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/a-look-at-russias-much-feared-artillery-arsenal\/\" title=\"A Look at Russia\u2019s Much-Feared Artillery Arsenal\">62 mm machine gun<\/a> to boot \u2014 is intended to assist the maneuver of infantry personnel against entrenched positions in combat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe M-10 would be used, much as the original <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/drone-footage-outgunned-ukrainian-tank-takes-entire-russian-armored-column\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tanks<\/a> in the First World War were, to defeat the machine guns that tie down infantry, destroy fixed positions, and to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/russia-might-use-knockoff-of-u-s-switchblade-drone\/\" title=\"Russia Might Use Knockoff of U.S. \u201cSwitchblade\u201d Drone\">destroy light armor<\/a> in order to restore mobility to the infantry,\u201d retired Maj. Gen. Patrick J. Donahoe told The Washington Times of the craft.<\/p>\n<p>The M-10 is more heavily armed and armored than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nato-demands-russia-explain-large-and-unusual-concentration-of-forces-near-ukraine\/\" title=\"NATO Demands Russia Explain 'Large and Unusual Concentration' of Forces near Ukraine\">infantry fighting vehicles<\/a> such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-announces-medal-honor-sgts-actions-bloodiest-battle-iraq-war-just-took\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">M2 Bradley<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Adapting to Modern Warfare<\/h3>\n<p>Russia\u2019s invasion of Ukraine has spurred questions on conventional battlefield tank tactics, with many of Russia\u2019s tanks destroyed by Ukrainian infantry and drone operators.
