Asked in a Newsmax interview<\/a> if he believes there has been a cover-up, Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) said, \u201cI do, 100%.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe military said we\u2019ve recovered a saucer and then the next day they dropped this poor officer out and claim he holds up a piece of a hot air balloon and says, \u2018No, in fact, it was a hot air balloon,\u2019 which apparently was a top-secret program at the time and they\u2019ve never would have disclosed it in any way,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

No one really knows what happened in Roswell, but a 1994 report by the Office of the Secretary of the Air Force made some claims. \u201cThe \u2018unusual\u2019 military activities in the New Mexico desert were high altitude research balloon launch and recovery operations. Reports of military units that always seemed to arrive shortly after the crash of a flying saucer to retrieve the saucer and \u2018crew,\u2019 were actually accurate descriptions of Air Force personnel engaged in anthropomorphic dummy recovery operations,\u201d the report read, Newsweek reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve been covering this up since the 40s,\u201d Burchett recently told<\/a> NewsNation, adding that he doesn\u2019t \u201ctrust government, there\u2019s an arrogance about it, and I think the American public can handle it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Burchett, who sits on a House committee investigating UFO sightings, said, \u201cI\u2019m just after the facts.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to talk to people who have seen something and can provide some proof of what\u2019s going on. In fact, if we can disclose some things, some new facts \u2014 but just get the people before us that have seen it, who have great credentials, and just stop with all the nonsense,\u201d he said<\/a> in an interview published at The Daily Wire.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope we show the American public that we\u2019re serious about this issue \u2014 a recent poll showed that over half the people believe in this \u2014 and that we\u2019ll get a little closer to getting to the bottom of it,\u201d Burchett said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd we\u2019ll expose to the American public that this is a cover-up, that we are not being forthcoming, and that there is a group of us that want to make that happen \u2014 and hopefully, we don\u2019t get corrupted,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, David Charles Grusch \u2014 a decorated former combat officer in Afghanistan and a veteran of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) and the National Reconnaissance Office \u2014 declared that he had given Congress reams of classified information about covert U.S. government programs that he says are now in possession of an intact craft of \u201cnon-human origin.\u201d<\/p>\n

Grusch, 36, would know. He was the reconnaissance office\u2019s representative to the Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP) Task Force from 2019-2021. And then from late 2021 to July 2022, he was the NGA\u2019s co-lead for UAP analysis and its representative to the task force.<\/p>\n

The UAP expert said the information was illegally withheld from Congress, and he \u201cfiled a complaint alleging that he suffered illegal retaliation for his confidential disclosures,\u201d The Debrief reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cGrusch said the recoveries of partial fragments through and up to intact vehicles have been made for decades through the present day by the government, its allies, and defense contractors. Analysis has determined that the objects retrieved are \u2018of exotic origin (non-human intelligence, whether extraterrestrial or unknown origin) based on the vehicle morphologies and material science testing and the possession of unique atomic arrangements and radiological signatures,\u2019 he said,\u201d The Debrief reported.<\/p>\n
