Drivers reported hearing a loud popping noise and then seeing a warning message on the dashboard before the car\u2019s acceleration began to fail, with some saying the car lost all power.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>Hyundai&#8217;s Response<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The NHTSA said that an initial review from Hyundai indicated that a power surge was damaging transistors and preventing the Ioniqs\u2019 12-volt batteries from recharging, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/US\/wireStory\/highway-safety-agency-reports-power-problems-2022-hyundai-100166003\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">according<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> to the Associated Press. A Hyundai spokesperson said the company was fully cooperating with the NHTSA investigation and launching a service campaign to update the vehicles\u2019 software and replace a component called the Integrated Control Charging Unit if necessary. The NHTSA estimates that the investigation could affect 39,500 Ioniqs on U.S. roads.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>Driver Complaints<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In one complaint, a driver reported traveling 75 mph on a highway when \u201cthe car became completely unresponsive.\u201d The consumer said there was a semi-truck behind him and one to his right in the slow lane.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThe car stopped accelerating, and I was unable to resume driving,\u201d the driver said. \u201cI was forced to coast to a stop on the side of the highway.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Another driver reported hearing a loud pop and \u201cwithin a few seconds my car lost speed rapidly, from 55 mph to 25 then a second later 22 mph.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>There were no reports of the alleged power loss resulting in crashes.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Hyundai is not alone in dealing with issues in some of its EVs. Since 2020, General Motors, Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis, and Volkswagen have also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/u-s-investigating-nearly-40k-evs-over-reports-of-power-loss-while-driving\/\" title=\"U.S. probes 40K EVs for power loss during driving.\">issued recalls largely due<\/a> to battery failures that can increase the risk of fires, the AP reported. Tesla vehicles have also been investigated by the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board, which said that their ion-lithium batteries pose a risk to first responders after crashes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Biden administration has strongly advocated for electric vehicles and is currently seeking a radical shift from gas-powered to EVs within the next decade. In April, Biden <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/biden-admin-to-propose-rules-to-drastically-increase-ev-sales-crack-down-on-tailpipe-emissions-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">proposed a plan<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> seeking to ensure that 67% of all <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-admin-to-propose-rules-to-drastically-increase-ev-sales-crack-down-on-tailpipe-emissions-report\/\" title=\"Biden Admin To Propose Rules To Drastically Increase EV Sales, Crack Down On Tailpipe Emissions: Report\">commercial passenger vehicles sold<\/a> in the U.S. will be all-electric starting in 2032.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\"><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As the federal government signals it will continue with heavy regulations on the industry, car manufacturers have recently pushed to produce more EVs, but for some manufacturers, that push has initially resulted in massive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/autos-transportation\/electric-vehicle-makers-burning-cash-slammed-by-sky-high-costs-2022-11-14\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">losses<\/a>. Earlier this year, Ford <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/ford-projects-its-ev-division-will-lose-billions-this-year\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">projected<\/a> it would lose $3 billion in 2023 as it pushes to produce more EVs and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ford-projects-its-ev-division-will-lose-billions-this-year\/\" title=\"Ford Projects Its EV Division Will Lose Billions This Year\">build electric battery plants<\/a> in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Michigan.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>that their Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric cars experienced power loss while driving.
