Documents obtained by a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request show U.S. taxpayers funded the research of three Wuhan Institute of Virology lab staffers in China whom U.S. officials told reporters are \u201cpatients zero\u201d for Covid-19.<\/p>\n<p>This adds evidence to the \u201clab leak theory.\u201d That hypothesis says the deadly virus that provided the justification for unprecedented worldwide government curtailments of civil liberties was created in a Chinese lab with U.S. government funding.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>Confirmation of Sick Wuhan Lab Staffers<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In 2021, the U.S. State Department confirmed that in the fall of 2019, China-based researchers conducting coronavirus animal experiments fell ill with Covid-19-like symptoms, and three became so sick they had to be hospitalized. On Tuesday, journalists Michael Shellenberger, Matt Taibbi, and Alex Gutentag released a <a href=\"https:\/\/public.substack.com\/p\/first-people-sickened-by-covid-19\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">report<\/a> on Substack identifying the three sick Wuhan lab staffers as Ben Hu, Yu Ping, and Yan Zhu, according to an unnamed U.S. government source.<\/p>\n<p>If these individuals are indeed the first to get sick with Covid-19, that adds to the <a href=\"https:\/\/public.substack.com\/p\/first-people-sickened-by-covid-19\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">growing evidence<\/a> the U.S. government funded the Chinese research that unleashed this virus on the world.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>Funding and Withheld Evidence<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Yesterday, <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.whitecoatwaste.org\/2023\/06\/15\/covid-origin-wcw-investigation-proves-u-s-govt-funded-patient-zero\/\">White Coat Waste Project (WCW)<\/a>, a nonpartisan watchdog group, publicized FOIA documents from the NIH confirming \u201cthat Ben Hu was a lead experimenter on the dangerous gain-of-function experiments funded by taxpayers via Dr. Fauci\u2019s National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).\u201d Gain-of-function makes the viruses more contagious and powerful.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is unclear who in the U.S. government had access to the intelligence about the sick WIV workers, how long they had it, and why it was not shared with the public,\u201d the report states.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>Implications and Cover-Up<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The documents also reveal Hu\u2019s dangerous \u201cgain-of-function\u201d research on SARS-like coronaviruses received at least $41 million in U.S. taxpayer dollars. However, the total amount \u201chas not been disclosed by the government,\u201d reports WCW.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou would expect the country of origin to be defensive,\u201d Alina Chan, a molecular biologist at MIT and Harvard, told Public, \u201cbut you wouldn\u2019t expect a country receiving the virus to be withholding key evidence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>More evidence for what has been called the \u201clab leak theory\u201d spells bad news for a number of powerful people, including former NIAID Director Anthony Fauci and Peter Daszak. NIAID funneled funds for the Wuhan research through Daszak\u2019s nonprofit, EcoHealth Alliance.<\/p>\n<p>In an email made public via open records requests, Daszak <a href=\"https:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/researcher-tied-wuhan-lab-thanked-201433387.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">thanked<\/a> Fauci for publicly dismissing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-said-he-would-press-china-on-the-origins-of-covid-he-hasnt\/\" title=\"Biden Said He Would Press China on the Origins of COVID. He Hasn\u2019t.\">lab-leak theory<\/a>, even though emails show Fauci was informed the virus possessed \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SharriMarkson\/status\/1399934149666934784\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">unusual features<\/a>\u201d that \u201cpotentially look engineered.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>Suppression of Information<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>From the onset of the Covid outbreak, elites in <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/06\/03\/former-covid-19-testing-czar-blasts-fauci-for-lying-about-pandemic-origins\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">science<\/a>, politics, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/06\/03\/how-the-medias-covid-lies-weaken-america\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">corporate media<\/a> berated and silenced anyone \u2014 including doctors \u2014 who even <b>discussed<\/b> the lab leak theory, labeling them racist and crazy. Instead, they amplified demands to indefinitely suspend Americans\u2019 civil liberties from men like Fauci and Daszak, who are partially responsible for the outbreak of Covid if the conclusions sustained by these new documents are true.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHad U.S. government officials including Dr. Fauci stated from day one that a Covid-19 research-related origin was a very real possibility,\u201d said Chan, \u201cand made clear that we had little idea what viruses were being held at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, what work was being done there, and who was doing that work, our national and global conversations would have been dramatically different.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, had Fauci, the WHO, the media, and tech companies allowed people to freely consider and discuss all possible origins of the virus, the American people, who now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2023\/03\/16\/lab-leak-theory-polling\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">strongly <\/a>believe the lab leak theory, may have demanded U.S. tax dollars once and for all stop funding dangerous scientific pursuits.
