At that time, the Dodgers, still based in Brooklyn, New York, were beaten 15-0 by Pittsburgh, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/story\/_\/id\/37871277\/dodgers-routed-giants-worst-home-shutout-loss-1898\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ESPN<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For the Giants, it was also their biggest margin over the Dodgers since a 19-3 drubbing delivered on Sept. 14, 2013.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">COINCIDENCE?? We\u2019re not playing clean baseball, fundamental baseball. It goes back to, not just trying to win, but focusing on the little things.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Times report noted that the Dodgers have been mired in what it called \u201ca month-long funk\u201d in which the team has lost 18 of its past 30 games.<\/p>\n<p>The streak roughly parallels the cauldron of controversy that now immerses the team.<\/p>\n<p>In May, it extended the invitation to the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, only to rescind it after an outcry. The team, facing an even louder reaction from the LGBT-supporting left, reinstated the invitation, leading to a controversy that built until Friday night\u2019s mass protest.<\/p>\n<p>The debate over the invitation also caused some players to speak out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t agree with making fun of other people\u2019s religions,\u201d star pitcher Clayton Kershaw told the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/dodgers\/story\/2023-05-29\/clayton-kershaw-explains-dodgers-christian-faith-family-day\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Los Angeles Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has nothing to do with anything other than that. I just don\u2019t think that, no matter what religion you are, you should make fun of somebody else\u2019s religion.
