The incident occurred on Friday, and Huggins made the decision to step down on Saturday.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;My recent actions do not represent the values of the University or the leadership expected in this role. While I have always tried to represent our University with honor, I have let all of you \u2013 and myself \u2013 down,&#8221; Huggins said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am solely responsible for my conduct and sincerely apologize to the University community \u2013 particularly to the student-athletes, coaches, and staff in our program. I must do better, and I plan to spend the next few months focused on my health and my family so that I can be the person they deserve.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Huggins&#8217; blood alcohol level was found to be three times the legal limit in Pennsylvania, where he was taken into custody by the Pittsburgh Police Department.<\/p>\n<p>Huggins, a WVU graduate, began his coaching career at the university as an assistant coach in 2007. However, this is not the first time he has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/lebron-james-show-cancels-kanye-west-interview-over-hate-speech\/\" title=\"Lebron James\u2019 Show Cancels Kanye West Interview Over \u201cHate Speech\u201d\">faced disciplinary action<\/a>. In May, Huggins received a three-game suspension and a $1 million pay cut for using an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/l-a-galaxy-star-fined-suspended-2-games-for-calling-teammate-an-anti-gay-slur\/\" title=\"L.A. He also agreed to undergo sensitivity training at the university&#8217;s LGBTQ+ Center.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;We support his decision so that he can focus on his health and family,&#8221; WVU President Gordon Gee and VP Wren Baker said in a statement. &#8220;On behalf of West Virginia University, we share our appreciation for his service to our University, our community, and our state. During his time as a student-athlete, assistant coach, and head coach, Coach Huggins devoted himself to his players, to our student body, to our fans and alumni, and to all West Virginians. His contributions will always be a part of our history.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Under Huggins&#8217; leadership, the Mountaineers reached the Final Four in 2010 and secured eleven NCAA Tournament titles, including a recent win last season.
