The raid was conducted in search of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-makes-statement-authorizing-release-of-fbi-warrant-used-to-search-mar-a-lago\/\" title=\"Trump Makes Statement Authorizing Release Of FBI Warrant Used To Search Mar-A-Lago\">alleged classified documents<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) had sent a letter to the DOJ, seeking details about the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/court-removes-page-for-judge-who-approved-raid-of-trumps-home\/\" title=\"Court Removes Page for Judge Who Approved Raid of Trump\u2019s Home\">classified materials discovered<\/a> during the search. This included any communications between the FBI&#8217;s Washington office and the U.S. Secret Service.<\/p>\n<p>However, the DOJ rejected Jordan&#8217;s request, stating that it could not provide non-public information about an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/federal-judge-criticizes-doj-for-speaking-to-media-amid-ongoing-investigation-into-capitol-riot\/\" title=\"Federal Judge Criticizes DOJ For Speaking To Media Amid Ongoing Investigation Into Capitol Riot\">ongoing criminal investigation<\/a> and prosecution by a Special Counsel.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;Protecting the confidentiality of non-public information regarding investigations and prosecutions preserves the American people&#8217;s confidence in the evenhanded administration of justice by guarding against the appearance of political pressure or other improper attempts to influence Department decisions,&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Assistant Attorney General Carlos Uriarte<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Prior to Trump&#8217;s indictment on charges related to special counsel Jack Smith&#8217;s probe into the mishandling of classified documents, Jordan had also asked Attorney General Merrick Garland to provide information about the individuals working on the Trump case.<\/p>\n<p>Jordan&#8217;s letter to Garland stated that the Judiciary Committee had previously requested information and documents related to the FBI&#8217;s raid on President Trump&#8217;s residence and subsequent investigation. As Garland had not provided this information and had appointed Jack Smith as special counsel, Jordan requested an unredacted copy of the memorandum outlining the scope of Smith&#8217;s probes and any <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-investigation-jordan-demands-garland-hand-over-smith-special-counsel-memo\/\" title=\"Jordan demands Garland give up Smith memo in Trump probe.\">supporting documentation related<\/a> to his appointment.<\/p>\n<p>Assistant Attorney General Uriarte explained that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/doj-rejects-house-gop-request-for-information-on-mar-a-lago-fbi-raid\/\" title=\"DOJ denies House GOP's request for Mar-a-Lago FBI raid details.\">special counsel matters<\/a> are subject to specific regulations regarding appointment and independence.
