Capitalism<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy pushed back on billionaire Mark Cuban\u2019s claim that pushing \u201cwoke\u201d capitalism is \u201cgood business.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">During an <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/therecount\/status\/1670425430770302978\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">appearance<\/a> on \u201cFox News Sunday\u201d with host Shannon Bream, Ramaswamy, author of \u201cWoke, Inc.: Inside Corporate America\u2019s Social Justice Scam,\u201d blasted Cuban\u2019s comments and pointed to brands like Bud Light and companies like Target as proof that going \u201cwoke\u201d is bad for business.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cMy view is that businesses have a purpose,\u201d Ramaswamy told Bream. \u201cIt is to provide products and services to customers who actually need them and, yes, to make a profit unapologetically.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWhen those businesses wade into social disputes, not only is that often bad for business, just look at what happened to Bud Light, look at what\u2019s happening to Target,\u201d Ramaswamy added. \u201cBut more importantly, it\u2019s bad for our civic culture in our country, because what we need is apolitical spaces that bring people together.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">2024 candidate Vivek Ramaswamy on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mcuban?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@mcuban<\/a>&#8216;s comment that &#8216;woke&#8217; Business<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Last week, Cuban said going \u201cwoke\u201d is good for business in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.post-gazette.com\/opinion\/insight\/2023\/06\/11\/mark-cuban-bud-light-target-woke\/stories\/202306110042\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">interview<\/a> with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, despite both Target and Anheuser Busch losing tremendous amounts in market value after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/chipotle-says-menu-prices-could-increase-if-minimum-wage-hike-imposed\/\" title=\"Chipotle Says Menu Prices Could Increase If Minimum Wage Hike Imposed\">conservatives pushed back<\/a> on LGBT-themed campaigns.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThere is a reason almost all the top ten market cap companies in the U.S. can be considered \u2018woke.\u2019 It\u2019s good business,\u201d Cuban told the newspaper. \u201cMost CEOs have enough experience to know to just wait out the news cycle until they go to the next one.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The \u201cShark Tank\u201d co-host made similar <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mlive.com\/politics\/2023\/05\/call-me-woke-mark-cuban-says-on-mackinac-island.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">comments<\/a> in late May to Michigan business leaders, saying \u201cwoke\u201d means ensuring a company\u2019s workforce \u201clooks like\u201d a product\u2019s customer base and \u201cmaking sure you can reflect their values and being able to connect to that.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ramaswamy said that places in the private sector, like sports stadiums and labs, are where Americans should be able to \u201cunite\u201d despite political differences.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cSo I think woke capitalism is bad for capitalism, but it\u2019s also bad for American democracy,\u201d Ramaswamy concluded. \u201cThat\u2019s why I\u2019ve been leading the crusade against it for the last several years, and that\u2019s what I\u2019m taking all the way to the White House.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"c-message_kit__blocks c-message_kit__blocks--rich_text\">\n<div class=\"c-message__message_blocks c-message__message_blocks--rich_text\" data-qa=\"message-text\">\n<div class=\"p-block_kit_renderer\" data-qa=\"block-kit-renderer\">\n<div class=\"p-block_kit_renderer__block_wrapper p-block_kit_renderer__block_wrapper--first\">\n<div class=\"p-rich_text_block\" dir=\"auto\">\n<div class=\"p-rich_text_section\"><b data-stringify-type=\"bold\"><\/b><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Since Bud Light partnered with social media influencer Dylan Mulvaney, a man who identifies as a woman, sales for the beer brand dropped 23.9% compared to the same time last year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/mark-cuban-claims-companies-target-bud-light-woke-good-business\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according<\/a> to Fox News. Similarly, Target\u2019s market capitalization had reportedly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/media\/target-market-cap-losses-hit-15-7-billion-share-near-52-week-low-amid-woke-backlash\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fallen<\/a> $15.7 billion as of last week following boycotts over the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/vivek-ramaswamy-counters-mark-cubans-claim-that-woke-capitalism-is-good-business\/\" title=\"Vivek Ramaswamy challenges Mark Cuban's view on 'woke' capitalism.\">company selling \u201ctuck-friendly\u201d swimwear<\/a> and having Pride Month displays that often appeared near the front of stores.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ramaswamy wasn\u2019t the only one <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/rep-andy-biggs-ndaa-veto-override-a-crying-shame\/\" title=\"Rep. Andy Biggs: NDAA veto override a crying shame\">pushing back<\/a> against Cuban\u2019s \u201cwoke\u201d business comments. Even Cuban\u2019s fellow \u201cShark\u201d Kevin O\u2019Leary countered his claim, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/06\/14\/shark-tanks-kevin-oleary-dismisses-mark-cubans-woke-business-claim\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">saying<\/a>, \u201cThe role of a business, a corporation in America for the last 200 years, has been to serve customers, their employees and their shareholders \u2026 not to educate society on the social issue of the day.
