Asa Hutchinson, the former Governor of Arkansas and a contender for the Republican nomination, expressed his concerns during an interview on ABC&#8217;s This Week.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;I\u2019ve tried scores of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/judge-andrew-p-napolitano-bush-guantanamo-and-the-rule-of-law\/\" title=\"Judge Andrew P. Napolitano: Bush, Guantanamo and the Rule of Law\">federal criminal trials<\/a> and taken them to a jury, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/1-3-million-people-awaiting-deportation-hearings-average-case-now-takes-three-years-due-to-backlog\/\" title=\"1.3 Million People Awaiting Deportation Hearings; Average Case Now Takes Three Years Due To Backlog\">cases don\u2019<\/a>t get any more serious than what\u2019s been outlined by Jack Smith,&#8221; Hutchinson emphasized. &#8220;You&#8217;re talking about the allegations of not handling our nation\u2019s top secrets in accordance with law. You\u2019re talking about obstruction of justice, and these are serious, and obviously, they\u2019re factually well-based.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Trump has vehemently denied the charges against him, dismissing them as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/president-trumps-defense-team-slams-impeachment-trial-as-political-vengeance-by-democrats\/\" title=\"President Trump\u2019s defense team slams impeachment trial as \u2018political vengeance\u2019 by Democrats\">politically motivated witch hunt<\/a>. Many of his fellow GOP competitors have taken a similar stance, defending Trump and questioning the credibility of the Biden administration&#8217;s Department of Justice.<\/p>\n<p>While Hutchinson, along with Chris Christie and Mike Pence, has been among the few Republicans to openly criticize Trump, their support from GOP voters remains relatively low. According to the RealClearPolitics voting average, the three candidates collectively receive less than 10% support, with Hutchinson polling at less than 1%.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, Hutchinson urged voters to carefully consider the charges against Trump and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/asa-hutchinson-says-charges-against-trump-are-serious-and-disqualifying\/\" title=\"Hutchinson: Trump's charges are 'serious and disqualifying'.\">explore alternative presidential candidates<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;The American people should take this seriously because this case is most likely not going to come to trial before voters in Iowa and New Hampshire are going to have to decide the case, or decide the vote, which is going to involve them evaluating the seriousness of these charges,&#8221; Hutchinson explained. &#8220;I view them as serious and disqualifying, actually, for a commander in chief.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>It remains to be seen how these charges will impact Trump&#8217;s potential candidacy in the 2024 election.<\/p>\n<h3>Read more from The Washington Examiner:<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\">https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A GOP candidate claims charges against Trump should bar him from the 2024 race.
