Lewis, once argued that stories have the power to stimulate the marvelous and supernatural, leading to newfound revelations of truth.<\/p>\n<p>Grappling with the novelty of such an experience, actor and playwright Max McLean embodies the late C.S. Lewis in his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cs-lewiss-life-onstage-playwright-max-mclean-brings-further-up-further-in-to-nationwide-tour\/\" title=\"Max McLean takes CS Lewis's life to the stage with Further Up &#038; Further In on a nationwide tour.\">latest theatrical performance<\/a>, <em>Further Up &#038; Further In<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h3>A Journey into the Person and Faith of Lewis<\/h3>\n<p>Born in 1898 in Ireland, Lewis became a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bois-the-nutcracker-and-the-dream-of-christmas\/\" title=\"Bois: 'The Nutcracker' and the Dream of Christmas\">literary scholar<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/further-up-further-in-grapples-with-lifes-hardships-and-faith-through-the-lens-of-cs-lewis\/\" title=\"Further Up &#038; Further In explores life's challenges and faith through CS Lewis' perspective.\">held academic positions<\/a> at both Oxford University and Cambridge University. The set, designed by Kelly Tighe, consists of a desk, armchair, and a dresser, inviting the audience to go further up and further into the person and faith of Lewis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can&#8217;t think of any play that we&#8217;ve done that has touched people as deep in their response to it,\u201d McLean told the Washington Examiner. \u201cWhen you dig deep with Lewis, you&#8217;re digging super deep.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Exploring the Divinity of Christ and Life&#8217;s Hardships<\/h3>\n<p><em>Further Up &#038; Further In<\/em> follows <em>The Most Reluctant Convert<\/em>, also written and performed by McLean, which looked at the conversion of Lewis.<\/p>\n<p>While exploring Lewis\u2019s arguments for the divinity of Christ in <em>Further Up &#038; Further In<\/em>, the audience is moved by the author\u2019s own words that wrestle with the purpose of life\u2019s hardships and how they point toward heaven.<\/p>\n<p>McLean causes one to contemplate Lewis\u2019s reasoning for finding truth and brings the audience to laughter with an inside look at Lewis\u2019s wit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere&#8217;s always challenges with Lewis because he&#8217;s so erudite and he takes you a little further up and further in than you&#8217;re prepared for, so the job of the dramatist is to bring that to a level that people get immediately,\u201d McLean said.<\/p>\n<p>McLean\u2019s promise that the play would provide audiences with a lot of \u201caha moments\u201d proves to be true, even for those familiar with Lewis&#8217;s writings.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>An Emotional and Geographical Journey<\/h3>\n<p>The Fellowship for Performing Arts play features John Gromada\u2019s rousing original score and the powerful images of Harry Feiner, projected as backdrops to move the audience emotionally and geographically in connection with different locales and events referenced throughout the play.<\/p>\n<p>As <em>Further Up &#038; Further In<\/em> wraps up its performances in Washington, D.C., on June 18, it will travel for additional tour stops in Missouri, Michigan, Colorado, and California throughout June and July.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Renowned author C.S.
