Madison Cawthorn To Divorce After Less Than Year Of Marriage\">irreconcilable differences<\/a>&#8216;.&#8221;>court document formally withdrawing<\/a> from representing Trump in Trump\u2019s defamation lawsuit against CNN.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr. Trusty\u2019s withdrawal is based upon irreconcilable differences between Counsel and Plaintiff and Counsel can no longer effectively and properly represent Plaintiff,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/s3.documentcloud.org\/documents\/23850119\/trusty.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">document<\/a> said.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Trump\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrats-call-for-more-gun-laws-despite-not-enforcing-the-ones-they-have\/\" title=\"Democrats call for more gun laws despite not enforcing the ones they have\">attorney withdrew<\/a> from a third legal matter on Friday, just a week after he pulled out of representing him in two federal probes. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/rg7Lo34tAl\">https:\/\/t.co\/rg7Lo34tAl<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Newsweek (@Newsweek) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Newsweek\/status\/1669781134786306050?\">June 16, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cMr. Trusty\u2019s withdrawal at this time does not adversely impact any parties to this matter: oral argument on Defendant\u2019s Motion to Dismiss has not been scheduled, discovery has not begun, and there are no pending deadlines. Further, Plaintiff continues to be served by co-counsel on the matter, Lindsey Halligan, a member of the Florida Bar,\u201d the document said.<\/p>\n<p>A Trump campaign representative said, \u201cThe defamation lawsuit against CNN is entering a new phase, as more irrefutable facts are revealed. We thank Mr. Trusty for his work on this case and wish him all the best,\u201d according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2023\/06\/16\/trump-attorney-trusty-resigns-00102408\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Politico<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, Trusty and fellow attorney John Rowley announced their resignation from Trump\u2019s legal team in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trumps-legal-team-gets-major-shakeup-two-key-members-unexpectedly-resign\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">joint statement<\/a> that followed Trump\u2019s indictment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis morning we tendered our resignations as counsel to President Trump, and we will no longer represent him on either the indicted case or the January 6 investigation,\u201d their statement read.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has been an honor to have spent the last year defending him, and we know he will be vindicated in his battle against the Biden Administration\u2019s partisan weaponization of the American justice system,\u201d the lawyers said in their statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow that the case has been filed in Miami, this is a logical moment for us to step aside and let others carry the cases through to completion,\u201d their statement said.<\/p>\n<p>Politico noted that on Tuesday, when Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/americans-trump-poll-boost-donations-pour-immediately-arraignment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">was arraigned<\/a> on the charges against him of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fbi-director-calls-legit-criticism-of-corrupt-fbi-violence-but-we-werent-born-yesterday-2\/\" title=\"FBI Director Calls Legit Criticism Of Corrupt FBI \u2018Violence,\u2019 But We Weren\u2019t Born Yesterday\">mishandling classified documents<\/a>, he was represented by attorneys Todd Blanche and Christopher Kise. The site reported that further legal representation is expected to be hired.<\/p>\n<p>In an Op-Ed on the website of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gatestoneinstitute.org\/19725\/donald-trump-lawyer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gatestone Institute<\/a>, former Harvard Law professor and legal scholar Alan Dershowitz said lawyers are being intimidated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are disturbing suggestions that among the reasons lawyers are declining the case is because they fear legal and career reprisals,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is a nefarious group that calls itself The 65 Project that has as its goal to intimidate lawyers into not representing Trump or anyone associated with him.
