Elissa Slotkin Holds Slight Lead in Michigan Senate Race<\/h2>\n<p>Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) is currently leading the race for the seat being vacated by retiring Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/virginia-sees-record-early-voting-numbers-ahead-of-gubernatorial-election\/\" title=\"Virginia Sees Record Early Voting Numbers Ahead of Gubernatorial Election\">slight advantage<\/a> over her Republican opponent, former Chief of the Detroit Police Department James Craig.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>New Poll Shows Slotkin Ahead<\/h3>\n<p>A recent EPIC-MRA poll reveals that Slotkin has a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dont-say-goodbye-to-cuomo-just-yet\/\" title=\"Don\u2019t Say Goodbye to Cuomo Just Yet\">1-point lead<\/a> over Craig. Among the 600 likely November 2024 voters surveyed, 40% expressed support for Slotkin, while 39% backed Craig. Approximately 21% of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/vindictive-gop-candidate-launches-unconventional-line-of-attack-to-unseat-dem-gov\/\" title=\"\u2018Vindictive\u2019: GOP Candidate Launches Unconventional Line Of Attack To Unseat Dem Gov\">voters remained undecided<\/a> or refused to make a selection.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>Favorability Ratings<\/h3>\n<p>Slotkin ranked higher in favorability among respondents, with 19% of &#8220;total favor,&#8221; while Craig held 16%.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>Introduction to the Candidates<\/h3>\n<p>Interestingly, 53% of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/morning-wire-biden-approval-rating-plummets-border-deaths-reach-record-levels-times-up-board-resigns\/\" title=\"Morning Wire: Biden Approval Rating Plummets, Border Deaths Reach Record Levels, Time\u2019s Up Board Resigns\">surveyed voters<\/a> had never heard of Slotkin, and 57% had never heard of Craig.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Slotkin, who currently serves as a congresswoman representing the Lansing area, officially launched her Senate campaign in February. She believes that Michigan needs &#8220;a new generation of leaders that thinks differently&#8221; and &#8220;works harder.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, Craig has not yet decided whether he will enter the 2024 Senate race. He stated that he does not have a specific timeline for making a decision.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h3>Stabenow&#8217;s Retirement<\/h3>\n<p>Last month, Sen. Debbie Stabenow announced that she would not seek reelection in 2024, expressing her desire to &#8220;pass the torch to the next generations of young leaders.&#8221; Stabenow served two terms in the House and became Michigan&#8217;s first female senator in 2001.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Aside from Slotkin and Craig, there are other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/virginia-republicans-take-aim-at-democrats-over-abortion-expansion\/\" title=\"Virginia Republicans Take Aim at Democrats Over Abortion Expansion\">candidates vying<\/a> for Stabenow&#8217;s open seat. Two declared Republicans, State Board of Education member and registered nurse Nikki Snyder and businessman Michael Hoover, are also in the race.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, former Democratic state Rep. Leslie Love, Dearborn businessman Nasser Beydoun, and attorney Zack Burns of Ann Arbor are among the other Democratic candidates competing for the Senate seat.<\/p>\n<p>Slotkin emphasized the need for change in leadership, stating in a video announcing her run, &#8220;We all know America is going through something right now.
