In fact, there is a significant risk of harm to children who are put on these hormone regimens, she said.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThere is no evidence of long-term benefit, but there is evidence of harm,\u201d Grossman told the panel.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Grossman said that despite what some physicians claim, there is currently no medical standard for transgender hormone treatments for children.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a debate. There\u2019s a fierce debate,\u201d she said. \u201cOur precious tax dollars should not support such a perilous experiment.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Grossman said she has been taking care of patients for 45 years and is also a senior fellow at Do No Harm, a group of doctors and others working to protect healthcare from politicized ideologies.<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-9096\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1686769858594000&#038;usg=AOvVaw29MU9w81PAp3j3uHg4Fp5m\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>During her testimony, Grossman also pushed back on gender ideology itself.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cSex is not assigned at birth. Sex is established at conception, and it\u2019s recognized at birth if not earlier,\u201d she said. \u201cTo claim that sex is assigned at birth is without any scientific basis whatsoever. Its language misleads people, especially children, into thinking that male and female are arbitrary designations and can change.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Grossman noted that a growing number of countries have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.city-journal.org\/article\/yes-europe-is-restricting-gender-affirming-care\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">restricted<\/a> transgender medical interventions for children, and there has been \u201cno wave of suicides or other mental health catastrophes\u201d in response to those restrictions \u2014 contrary to the predictions of transgender activists.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/fins-turn-against-puberty-blockers-for-gender-dysphoria\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Finland<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.france24.com\/en\/live-news\/20230208-sweden-puts-brakes-on-treatments-for-trans-minors\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sweden<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/restoring-america\/courage-strength-optimism\/norway-offers-a-step-forward-in-eliminating-gender-ideology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Norway<\/a> have all pumped the brakes on prescribing puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones for trans-identifying children. Sweden implemented restrictions <a href=\"https:\/\/www.euronews.com\/next\/2023\/02\/16\/as-spain-advances-trans-rights-sweden-backtracks-on-gender-affirming-treatments-for-teens\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">after<\/a> a 14-year-old girl on puberty blockers developed osteoporosis and spinal fractures.<\/p>\n<p>The National Health Service of England has also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/06\/09\/health\/puberty-blockers-transgender-children-britain-nhs.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">restricted<\/a> puberty blockers, while France has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.academie-medecine.fr\/la-medecine-face-a-la-transidentite-de-genre-chez-les-enfants-et-les-adolescents\/?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">urged caution<\/a> in prescribing them.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>These countries have concluded that \u201ckids don\u2019t need their development interrupted, the girls don\u2019t need their period stopped and their voices lowered, and the boys don\u2019t need to grow breasts,\u201d Grossman said. \u201cWhat they need is psychotherapy.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Many medical professionals have in recent years lent their full-throated support to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/transgender-young-people-in-u-s-have-nearly-doubled-recently-report-shows\/\" title=\"Transgender Young People In U.S. Have Nearly Doubled Recently, Report Shows\">minors receiving puberty blockers<\/a>, cross-sex hormones, and in some cases, surgical transitions, which can mean double mastectomies and genital surgery.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, conservatives have sounded the alarm on transgender medical procedures and hormone treatments for children. The Daily Wire\u2019s Matt Walsh also interviewed Grossman for The Daily Wire\u2019s documentary \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/videos\/what-is-a-woman\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">What Is A Woman,<\/a>\u201d released last year.<\/p>\n<p>Hundreds of teen girls in the U.S., some as young as 12, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medpagetoday.com\/pediatrics\/generalpediatrics\/101252?xid=nl_mpt_DHE_2022-10-17&#038;eun=g394940d0r&#038;utm_source=Sailthru&#038;utm_medium=email&#038;utm_campaign=Daily%20Headlines%20Evening%202022-10-17&#038;utm_term=NL_Daily_DHE_dual-gmail-definition\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">have gotten<\/a> elective, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/texas-childrens-hospital-performs-sex-change-procedures-on-children-as-young-as-11-report\/\" title=\"Texas Children's Hospital does sex change surgeries on kids as young as 11, says report.\">gender-related double mastectomies<\/a> to remove their healthy breasts over the last few years.<\/p>\n<p>Both puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones come with serious health risks. Puberty blockers can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/diseases-conditions\/gender-dysphoria\/in-depth\/pubertal-blockers\/art-20459075\">affect<\/a> bone growth and density and cause sexual dysfunction, voice damage, and infertility among other issues. Cross-sex hormones can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/transgender-young-people-in-u-s-have-nearly-doubled-recently-report-shows\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cause<\/a> infertility, deadly blood clots, heart attacks, increased cancer risks of the breasts and ovaries, liver dysfunction, worsening psychological illness, and other serious conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, it is more popular than ever for youth to adopt new gender identities. An estimated 300,000 minors aged 13 to 17 <a href=\"https:\/\/williamsinstitute.law.ucla.edu\/press\/transgender-estimate-press-release\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">identified<\/a> as transgender as of last year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A child psychiatrist strongly opposed medical transgender hormone treatments for children in her testimony before Congress.
