Gavin Newsom (D.) made headlines this week when he revealed that he had met with a Texas sheriff who wants to press charges against Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R.) for allegedly flying migrants away from Texas.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/winred.tomcotton.com\/tom-cotton\/defend-scotus-ads-beacon?utm_source=rc&#038;utm_medium=beaconads&#038;utm_campaign=2023maybeaconscotus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/winred.tomcotton.com\/tom-cotton\/defend-scotus-ads-beacon?utm_source=rc&#038;utm_medium=beaconads&#038;utm_campaign=2023maybeaconscotus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/a><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Newsom <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/tv\/newsom-met-with-texas-sheriff-who-wants-to-press-charges-against-desantis-to-compare-notes-regarding-migrant-flights-investigations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> in an interview released Wednesday that he &#8220;met with a sheriff that wants to press charges&#8221; against DeSantis for &#8220;coming into his jurisdiction under false pretense, deceiving kids, not just adults, by sending them on an airplane to an island, Martha&#8217;s Vineyard.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The California governor has already threatened DeSantis with kidnapping charges over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/anything-im-doing-at-4-in-the-morning-is-not-good-fox-panel-blasts-biden-admin-for-hiding-illegal-immigrant-flights\/\" title=\"\u2018Anything I\u2019m Doing At 4 In The Morning Is Not Good\u2019: Fox Panel Blasts Biden Admin For \u2018Hiding\u2019 Illegal Immigrant Flights\">migrant flights<\/a> to Sacramento, the <em>Washington Free Beacon<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/democrats\/newsom-threatens-desantis-with-kidnapping-charges-as-2nd-jet-full-of-migrants-arrives-in-california\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>. DeSantis has scoffed at the threat, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/desantis-blames-newsoms-hair-gel-muddling-brain-function-after-call-doj-probe-migrant-flights\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">saying<\/a> that Newsom&#8217;s &#8220;hair gel is interfering with his brain function.&#8221; He also <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/latest-news\/desantis-responds-to-california-threatening-him-with-kidnapping-charges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">blasted<\/a> Newsom for hypocrisy.<\/p>\n<p>California and other states &#8220;have bragged that they are sanctuary jurisdictions,&#8221; DeSantis told supporters last Thursday. &#8220;And then what? When they have to deal with some of the fruits of that, they all of a sudden become very, very upset about that.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Legal scholar Jonathan Turley in a column for the <i>Messenger<\/i> <a href=\"https:\/\/themessenger.com\/opinion\/california-dreaming-newsoms-kidnapping-claim-against-desantis-is-long-on-politics-and-short-on-the-law\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote<\/a> that Newsom&#8217;s threat is &#8220;pathetic,&#8221; saying the California governor &#8220;apparently failed to read&#8221; the state&#8217;s kidnapping statute.<\/p>\n<p>Newsom during the interview this week did not name the sheriff who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wisconsin-special-counsel-finds-widespread-election-fraud-in-2020-nursing-homes\/\" title=\"Wisconsin Special Counsel Finds \u2018Widespread Election Fraud\u2019 In 2020 Nursing Homes\">recommended charges<\/a>, only referring to him as &#8220;the sheriff from the county in Texas where the migrants were taken \u2026 the 49 that were taken to Martha&#8217;s Vineyard.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The sheriff appears to be Bexar County Democrat Javier Salazar. In a statement to the <i>Free Beacon<\/i>, Salazar confirmed that he met with Newsom and discussed &#8220;our respective cases regarding the migrant flights.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>While Salazar did not confirm whether he recommended pursuing charges against DeSantis, he said that he and Newsom talked about &#8220;the status and the nature of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fncs-carlson-if-youre-looking-for-election-rigging-look-no-further-than-media-treatment-of-hunter-biden-saga\/\" title=\"FNC's Carlson: 'If You're Looking for Election Rigging, Look No Further' Than Media Treatment of Hunter Biden Saga\">criminal investigation<\/a>&#8221; concerning the migrant flights.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/winred.tomcotton.com\/tom-cotton\/defend-scotus-ads-beacon?utm_source=rc&#038;utm_medium=beaconads&#038;utm_campaign=2023maybeaconscotus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/winred.tomcotton.com\/tom-cotton\/defend-scotus-ads-beacon?utm_source=rc&#038;utm_medium=beaconads&#038;utm_campaign=2023maybeaconscotus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/a><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Salazar last <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/newsom-met-with-sheriff-who-wants-to-prosecute-desantis-for-sending-migrants-to-california\/\" title=\"Newsom met sheriff seeking to prosecute DeSantis for migrant transfers to California.\">week filed criminal charges<\/a> in the case of 49 migrants who last September boarded a flight from San Antonio to Martha&#8217;s Vineyard, local media <a href=\"https:\/\/foxsanantonio.com\/newsletter-daily\/sheriff-salazar-files-criminal-case-after-migrants-were-flown-to-marthas-vineyard-local-san-antonio-texas-florida\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>.
