Adam Schiff of California received unexpected support on Wednesday when twenty Republicans came to his defense, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/over-160-republican-lawmakers-rally-behind-resolution-to-nullify-bidens-vaccine-mandate\/\" title=\"Over 160 Republican Lawmakers Rally Behind Resolution to 'Nullify' Biden's Vaccine Mandate\">effectively putting<\/a> a resolution to censure and fire him on hold.<\/p>\n<p>The resolution, introduced by Republican Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/congresswoman-files-censure-schiff-fine-16-million-durham-report-will-not-back\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Anna Paulina Luna<\/a> of Florida, called for a $16 million fine, equivalent to half the cost of the Robert Mueller probe, which concluded that there was no evidence of collusion between the 2016 Trump campaign and Russia.<\/p>\n<p>Luna stated, &#8220;It is the obligation of House Leadership to back up this motion for the American people and hold this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/adam-schiff-faces-house-censure-vote-and-prospect-of-steep-fine\/\" title=\"Schiff may be censured and fined by House.\">feckless man accountable<\/a>,&#8221; according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/05\/24\/rep-anna-luna-files-motion-to-fine-schiff-16m-for-russiagate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The text of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/118th-congress\/house-resolution\/437\/text\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">House Resolution 437<\/a> noted that Schiff, from his position on the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence of the House of Representatives, &#8220;abused this trust by citing evidence of collusion that \u2014 as is clear from reports by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz, and Special Counsel Durham \u2014 does not exist.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The resolution was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/anna-paulina-luna-to-file-privileged-motion-to-censure-schiff-for-investigation\/\" title=\"Anna Paulina Luna will file a privileged motion to censure Schiff for his investigation.\">ultimately tabled<\/a> with a vote of 225-196-7, as twenty Republicans joined Democrats in favor of tabling it, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/clerk.house.gov\/Votes\/2023269\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/adam-schiff-thankful-to-20-house-republicans-who-bailed-him-out-in-surprise-vote\/\" title=\"Adam Schiff grateful for 20 House Republicans who saved him in unexpected vote.\">official roll call<\/a><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Republicans who voted to table the motion were: Kelly Armstrong of North Dakota; Lori Chavez-DeRemer of Oregon; Juan Ciscomani of Arizona; Tom Cole of Oklahoma; Warren Davidson and Mike Turner of Ohio; Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania; Kay Granger of Texas; Garret Graves of Louisiana; Thomas Kean Jr. of New Jersey; Kevin Kiley, Young Kim, Tom McClintock, Jay Obernolte, and David Valadao of California; Mike Lawler and Mark Molinaro of New York; Thomas Massie of Kentucky; Mike Simpson of Idaho; and Steve Womack of Arkansas.<\/p>\n<p>Five other Republicans did not oppose tabling the resolution. Republican Reps. Neal Dunn of Florida, Tony Gonzales of Texas, and Patrick McHenry of North Carolina were recorded as not voting. Reps. Darrell Issa of California and George Santos of New York voted Present. All Democrats voted in favor of tabling the measure.<\/p>\n<p>Schiff expressed surprise at the vote, stating, &#8220;And I think it showed a lot of courage for Republican members to stand up to the crazy MAGA folks,&#8221; according to <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/house\/4050563-these-20-house-republicans-voted-to-block-resolution-to-censure-adam-schiff\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Hill<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Luna, however, made it clear that she will not be deterred by the vote. She tweeted, &#8220;So there is no confusion (as some did not <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/star-parker-biden-about-1619-not-1776\/\" title=\"Star Parker: Biden About 1619, not 1776\">accurately read<\/a> the bill) I will be filing a privileged motion to censure &#038; send Schiff to ethics for investigation. Massie argued that a $16 million fine would violate the 27th and 8th amendments of the Constitution. Again, this is not the same case as yours and Pelosi&#8217;s.
