And <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">that<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> means that, turnabout being fair play, future elections will carry the risk that the loser may find him or herself in the dock in retaliation.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>The choice to indict Trump is particularly egregious given the fact that in 2016, Clinton <\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">wasn\u2019t<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> prosecuted for similar activity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Clinton, it should be remembered, held tens of thousands of emails on a private server, dozens of which were classified; James Comey, then head of the FBI admitted that there was a good shot that foreign sources could have accessed that server; the emails themselves were then destroyed by Clinton\u2019s team, and her hard drive cleansed; nonetheless, months later, copies of those emails showed up on the laptop of moral derelict Anthony Weiner.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Suffice it to say, Hillary undoubtedly engaged in both gross negligence in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/obamas-attorney-general-in-2016-threatening-to-jail-political-opponents-is-an-abuse-of-power\/\" title=\"Obama\u2019s Attorney General In 2016: \u2018Threatening To Jail Political Opponents\u2019 Is An \u2018Abuse Of Power\u2019\">handling classified information<\/a> and obstruction of justice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">But Comey declined to prosecute, rewriting the law in order to reach that decision.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">And then there is the Biden family.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Allegations surrounding corruption within the Biden family continue to abound \u2013 and yet law enforcement seems peculiarly unconcerned with such allegations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">According to Republican congresspeople, a whistleblower has now revealed that the Biden family received millions of dollars in exchange for favors done while Joe Biden was vice president.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">And yet Biden continues to receive not only the benefit of the doubt, but sycophantic treatment in the press.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Americans remember the Hillary precedent and the Biden apathy as they see Trump in the dock this week. Trump certainly does.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Now, two things can be true at once: the allegations against Trump in the federal indictment are damning, if proved true.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The indictment alleges not just that Trump took home classified documents \u2013 something done by public figures ranging from Joe Biden to Mike Pence to Hillary Clinton \u2013 but that he proceeded to tell his lawyers to attest that he had turned those documents back in, all the while shifting the documents themselves around to avoid his own lawyers knowing about them; that he bragged to journalists about classified documents in his possession while acknowledging that he had not in fact declassified them; that those documents did contain <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-dangerous-trump-indictment\/\" title=\"Trump Indictment: A Perilous Situation\">highly important national security information<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Had Hillary been indicted in 2016, there would be little doubt about Trump\u2019s indictment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">But she wasn\u2019t.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Which means that our justice system seems to be following the famous Latin American saying, \u201cfor my friends, everything; for my enemies, the law.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">And that double standard will not hold.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Which, presumably, is why Trump is already pledging to prosecute the Biden family should he be re-elected.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We\u2019ve entered an ugly new phase in American political history.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Trump should have known that his enemies were after him; only epic narcissism and foolishness can explain his behavior in relation to the boxes of documents that have now landed him in court.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">But such concerns are now secondary.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The real question is whether one set of rules will ever again be applied by federal law enforcement \u2013 or whether the cycle of tit-for-tat will now enter into full force.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This week, a historic moment occurred as Donald Trump, the ex-president and leading Republican candidate, faced 37 federal felony charges.
