The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/kelly-clarkson-says-ego-made-her-stay-married-to-ex-husband-for-so-long\/\" title=\"Clarkson: Ego kept me in marriage with ex.\">talk show host revealed<\/a> that her ego played a role in prolonging the inevitable end of her relationship with Brandon Blackstock.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m like, \u2018I can do this. I can handle so much.\u2019 My ego is like, \u2018I can control my actions. I can control my reactions. I can do this and I can reach this person and I can get through,&#8217;\u201d the \u201cStronger\u201d singer told Doyle. \u201cIt becomes a little bit of your ego that gets in the way.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Clarkson filed for divorce from Blackstock in June 2020, and the former couple shares joint custody of their children, daughter River Rose, 9, and son Remy, 7. However, sometimes things just don\u2019t work out.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI wanted to make it beautiful. I wanted to make it awesome.
