PDE maintains a state-by-state list of schools and school districts that have policies allowing or requiring staff to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/usaid-instructs-teachers-to-hide-students-gender-identities-from-parents\/\" title=\"USAID Instructs Teachers to Hide Students' Gender Identities From Parents\">hide students\u2019 gender identities<\/a>. The organization\u2019s website includes a list of school districts by state it says \u201chave Transgender\/Gender Nonconforming Policies that openly state that district personnel can or should keep a student\u2019s transgender status hidden from parents.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>The Numbers<\/h3>\n<p>While the list is not all-inclusive, the organization found 1,000 school districts and 17,612 total schools have implemented such policies. Altogether, 10,215,454 students attend those schools. \u201cThis list is not comprehensive; if you are aware of a district policy that is not on the list, please notify PDE,\u201d the site requests.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can barely keep up with our tracker because the numbers are so overwhelming, as parents constantly send us their schools\u2019 policies to add to the list,\u201d Director of Outreach Erika Sanzi remarked in a statement to the Daily Caller. \u201cThese policies that deliberately deceive parents are pervasive and we must eradicate them.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Examples of Policies<\/h3>\n<p>Los Angeles Unified School District, the second-largest school district in the country and the largest in the state of California, has a policy that states, \u201c\u2026school personnel shall take into consideration the safety, health and well-being of the student in deciding whether to disclose the student\u2019 gender identity or expression to parents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chicago Public Schools policy instructs staff not to tell parents about students\u2019 gender identity and even states that students can participate in overnight field trips \u201cin accordance with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/colorado-school-district-instructs-teachers-to-avoid-informing-parents-if-their-child-shows-persistent-gender-confusion\/\" title=\"Colorado School District Instructs Teachers To Avoid Informing Parents If Their Child Shows \u2018Persistent\u2019 Gender Confusion\">gender identity consistently asserted<\/a> at school.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Encouraging Transition Attempts Without Parental Consent<\/h3>\n<p>Meanwhile, some schools have not only hidden the gender identity of students from their parents but allegedly encouraged transition attempts without parental consent. Amber Lavigne, a mother in Maine\u2019s Central Lincoln County School System, claims that a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/thousands-of-schools-urge-or-instruct-teachers-to-hide-students-gender-identity-from-parents-report\/\" title=\"Schools tell teachers to keep students' gender identity from parents: Report.\">social worker secretly provided<\/a> her 13-year-old daughter with breast binders, pieces of clothing meant to flatten the chest. Lavigne is now suing the school district.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Parents Defending Education claims that numerous schools nationwide have guidelines that instruct or encourage teachers and staff to conceal students&#8217; gender identity from parents.
