However, the festivities were marred by a shooting incident that left nine people injured.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI thought it was just more fireworks going off. It was pretty crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>According to the Denver Police Department, three of the victims were in critical condition, while the others sustained non<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/off-duty-austin-police-officer-forced-to-confront-armed-suspect\/\" title=\"Off-duty Austin police officer forced to confront armed suspect\">-life-threatening injuries<\/a>. The suspect, who was also shot, is now in police custody.<\/p>\n<h3>Investigation Underway<\/h3>\n<p>Police spokesperson Doug Schepman stated that an \u201cexpansive\u201d investigation is underway to determine what led to the altercation that resulted in the shots being fired. The incident occurred in the area where the largest gathering of people celebrating was taking place.<\/p>\n<p>Schepman noted that the suspect was detained relatively easily, and the police are working to gather more information about the incident.<\/p>\n<h3>Celebrations Turned Chaotic<\/h3>\n<p>The shooting occurred in a popular part of town not far from Coor\u2019s Field, home of the Colorado Rockies baseball team, and several popular bars.
