It is commonplace there for rival candidates to be prosecuted, persecuted, and put into jail.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>A federal indictment that was unsealed last week charged Trump with 37 counts stemming from his alleged mishandling of classified documents. Prosecutors said that he refused to turn over classified documents, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/georgia-gop-governor-rips-mlb-for-caving-to-cancel-culture-says-president-biden-is-lying-about-voting-reform-bill\/\" title=\"Georgia GOP Governor Rips MLB For \u2018Caving To Cancel Culture,\u2019 Says President Biden Is \u2018Lying\u2019 About Voting Reform Bill\">made false statements<\/a>, and obstructed justice, among other charges.<\/p>\n<h3>Trump Pleads Not Guilty<\/h3>\n<p>During Tuesday\u2019s arraignment, Trump pleaded not guilty.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5330789\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2023\/06\/13\/id5330789-b2213c2d-409a-4dac-ac8d-011db61641fc-1200x800.jpeg\"><br \/>\n\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2023\/06\/13\/id5330789-b2213c2d-409a-4dac-ac8d-011db61641fc-1200x800.jpeg\" alt=\"Alina Habba, a spokeswoman and lawyer for Donald Trump, works toward a media scrum outside the federal courthouse in Miami on June 13, 2023. (Madalina Vasiliu\/Epoch Times)\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><\/noscript><\/figcaption><\/a><br \/>\n\t<\/figure>\n<p>But Habba, like Trump, argued that the indictment of Trump suggests there is a double standard, as Democrats like President Joe Biden and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton never faced such federal scrutiny.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Habba told reporters: \u201cNone of them were president, who as the head and sole member of the executive branch, has the power to summarily declassify documents.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cThe decision to pursue charges against President Trump while turning a blind eye to others is emblematic of the corruption that we have here.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Habba also said that the indictment is \u201cnot about President Donald J. Trump, who is defiant,\u201d adding: \u201cIt is not about the Republican Party, it is not about the 2024 election. It is about the destruction of longstanding principles that have set this country apart.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Video footage showed Trump riding to court with his son Eric, who accompanied the motorcade from the former president\u2019s Doral resort to the federal courthouse in Miami.
