Lab-grown meat is making its way to dinner plates worldwide, with Bio Tech Foods, a subsidiary of meat-packing giant JBS, leading the charge. Last week, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/amazons-grocery-business-has-become-an-expensive-hobby\/\" title=\"Amazon\u2019s Grocery Business Has Become an \u201cExpensive Hobby\u201d\">company announced plans<\/a> to build a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/coming-to-your-plate-soon-worlds-top-beef-supplier-building-lab-grown-meat-plant\/\" title=\"Top beef supplier building <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bill-gates-rich-countries-should-be-eating-100-synthetic-beef\/\" title=\"Bill Gates: Rich Countries Should Be Eating 100% Synthetic Beef\">lab-grown meat<\/a> plant for your plate soon.&#8221;>commercial-size cell-cultured meat plant<\/a> in Spain, which could potentially produce more than 1,000 metric tons of cultivated beef per year. <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cCultivated meat is derived from a small sample of cells collected from livestock, which is then fed nutrients, grown in enormous steel vessels called bioreactors, and processed into something that looks and tastes like a real cut of meat.\u201d &#8211; Reuters<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Several other cultivated meat companies, including GOOD Meat, Mosa Meat, and Believer Meats, are also working with the Food and Drug Administration on approval. And it&#8217;s not just <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/obama-birthday-bash-will-serve-meatless-menu\/\" title=\"Obama Birthday Bash Will Serve Meatless Menu\">fake beef<\/a> on the horizon. Cultivated chicken breast from a California company called UPSIDE Foods is also in the works, after having been deemed \u201csafe for human consumption\u201d by the FDA in November.<\/p>\n<h3>Obstacles to Overcome<\/h3>\n<p>Despite the flurry of regulatory activity, cultivated meat producers still face obstacles in the way of getting their products on store shelves. Company executives say the industry needs additional funding to scale up production to make their product affordable. There&#8217;s also the problem of what Reuters called \u201cthe \u2018ick\u2019 factor.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>35 percent of meat eaters and 55 percent of vegetarians \u201cwould be too disgusted to try cultivated meat.\u201d &#8211; Reuters<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>National Cattlement\u2019s Beef Association President Todd Wilkinson is watching the development of the new industry with a wary eye. While the lab-grown meat producers loudly tout their process as \u201csustainable,\u201d Wilkinson pointed to reports that the carbon footprint of the fake meat is up to 25 times that of producing real beef.<\/p>\n<h3>The Future of Meat<\/h3>\n<p>Lab-grown meat is coming, but it remains to be seen how widely it will be accepted. While some are excited about the potential for a more sustainable and ethical meat industry, others are skeptical of the taste and safety of the product.
