And a lonely, self-consumed, self<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/then-there-were-11-chris-christie-joins-republican-race-for-white-house\/\" title=\"Chris Christie enters Republican race for presidency, making it 11 candidates.\">-serving mirror hog<\/a> is not a leader,\u201d Christie said. \u201cLet me be clear, in case I have not been already, the person I am talking about who is obsessed with the mirror, who never admits a mistake, who never admits a fault, and will always find someone else and something else to blame for whatever goes wrong, but finds every reason to take credit for anything that goes right, is Donald Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Christie\u2019s pointed case against Trump:<br \/>\u201clet me be clear\u2026the person I am talking about who is obsessed with the mirror, who never admits a mistakes, who never admits a fault\u2026is Donald Trump.\u201c <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/GQ7OTQktqn\">pic.twitter.com\/GQ7OTQktqn<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Alex Thompson (@AlexThomp) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AlexThomp\/status\/1666233187628974080?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 6, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Trump responded to Christie\u2019s announcement with a<a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/110499821135778823\"> post<\/a> on social media, but polling analyst Steve Kornacki <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/chris-christie-to-enter-2024-gop-presidential-primary-expected-to-focus-on-going-after-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> late last month that Christie \u201cprobably faces the steepest hill of any of the \u201924 GOP candidates\u201d to become the party\u2019s nominee, but signaled that he could do serious damage to Trump.<\/p>\n<h3>Could Christie Be the Exception?<\/h3>\n<p>Republican strategist Mike Murphy\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/politics\/hes-lighting-a-stick-of-dynamite-and-running-right-at-donald-trump-gop-strategist-explains-chris-christies-2024-plan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>\u00a0during an interview earlier this month that Christie\u2019s campaign would effectively be Christie \u201clighting a stick of dynamite and running right at Donald Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Christie was widely credited with knocking Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) out of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/7-democrats-who-could-be-impeached-by-their-own-standards\/\" title=\"7 Democrats Who Could Be Impeached By Their Own Standards\">2016 presidential race<\/a> with a brutal series of attacks during the Republican debates. So while the general assumption is that Trump benefits with every new candidate who enters, Christie could be an exception \u2014 that he ends up serving as a battering ram for DeSantis (or whoever has the clearest shot at Trump) in a key moment \u2014 a reversal of \u201916.
