The charges carry a maximum sentence of five years in prison.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, Governor Ron DeSantis suspended DeFillipo with an executive order. The mayor&#8217;s lawyers called the charges a &#8220;political hit job.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>Living Outside the City Limits<\/h3>\n<p>According to the <em>Miami Herald<\/em>, DeFillipo allegedly lives in neighboring Davie, where he was recorded in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democratic-florida-mayor-charged-with-voter-fraud\/\" title=\"Florida Mayor charged with voter fraud.\">cell phone data driving<\/a> from home to vote in North Miami Beach in August, October, and November.<\/p>\n<h3>Criticism from Democrats<\/h3>\n<p>The move by DeSantis comes as he faces criticism from Democrats for reportedly flying migrants from border states to Sacramento, California.
