Nancy Mace (R-SC) said about the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/house-passes-defense-bill-moves-to-lift-debt-ceiling-after-bipartisan-agreement\/\" title=\"House Passes Defense Bill, Moves To Lift Debt Ceiling After Bipartisan Agreement\">debt ceiling agreement<\/a> between President Joe Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Mace went on to tell Semafor&#8217;s Steve Clemons on Tuesday that Biden negotiated a &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nancy-mace-says-republicans-totally-got-rolled-by-debt-ceiling-deal\/\" title=\"Nancy Mace: GOP got rolled on debt ceiling deal.\">pretty damn good deal<\/a>&#8221; for his side, saying the Democrats &#8220;laughed at&#8221; Republicans on the floor during the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/manchin-shoots-down-democrats-talks-of-changing-filibuster-for-debt-ceiling-vote\/\" title=\"Manchin Shoots Down Democrats\u2019 Talks Of Changing Filibuster For Debt Ceiling Vote\">debt ceiling vote<\/a> last week.<\/p>\n<h3>The Fights That Lay Ahead in Congress with Debt Ceiling in Rearview<\/h3>\n<p>While Mace believes in consensus and making compromises, she feels that the GOP &#8220;gave away the kitchen sink and then some.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We gave away all the leverage we had, which was the debt ceiling over the next two years, past the election. There\u2019s no more leverage here,&#8221; Mace said.<\/p>\n<p>She cited a CNN poll conducted by SSRS that showed 45% of Democrats, a majority of independents, and most Republicans wanted to see some spending cuts in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrats-unveil-government-funding-debt-ceiling-bill-that-gop-has-vowed-to-oppose\/\" title=\"Democrats Unveil Government Funding, Debt Ceiling Bill That GOP Has Vowed To Oppose\">debt ceiling bill<\/a>, saying the public will be sorely disappointed.<\/p>\n<p>Despite opposition from Mace and others, the president signed the debt ceiling bill into law on June 3, which suspends the nation\u2019s $31.4 trillion borrowing limit until January 2025. If the spending caps outlined in the bill are retained for six years, it could reduce the deficit by $2.1 trillion, according to a preliminary assessment from the Congressional Budget Office. However, the budget caps are only required for the first two years.<\/p>\n<p>On the other side, Mace claimed on Tuesday that $17.3 trillion in spending will go toward adding debt.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When you see these measures that, once they come out of the House, they might look responsible, but because we didn&#8217;t agree to them in writing, they&#8217;re not worth the paper they&#8217;re printed on when they go to the Senate \u2014 people will see what is just all an illusion,&#8221; Mace said.<\/p>\n<p>Mace opposed the debt ceiling agreement and voted &#8220;no,&#8221; joining 70 other Republicans and 46 Democrats who also voted against the deal on May 31.
