Trump denies wrongdoing, claiming he declassified documents in his possession before leaving office and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/05\/11\/us\/politics\/trump-documents-white-house.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">had a right to take them<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Obstruction Charges<\/h3>\n<p>Cruz believes that Garland&#8217;s DOJ will focus on pursuing obstruction charges, as other top executives, including President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/joe-biden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Joe Biden<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/mike-pence-will-not-face-criminal-charges-over-classified-documents-scandal-reports\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">former Vice President Mike Pence<\/a>, also had classified documents in their possession after leaving office. Cruz argues that Garland will create a crime about a noncrime, using it as the basis for the indictment.<\/p>\n<h3>Corruption Allegations<\/h3>\n<p>Cruz has positioned himself as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/rep-matt-gaetz-wins-gop-primary-in-florida-will-face-former-state-health-department-official-in-november\/\" title=\"Rep. As a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, which has jurisdiction over the DOJ, Cruz claims that Garland has &#8220;corrupted&#8221; the agency along with its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/report-usps-monitoring-americans-social-media-posts\/\" title=\"Report: USPS monitoring Americans\u2019 social media posts\">law enforcement arm<\/a>, the FBI.
