He said that he\u2019s just months away from being confirmed in the religion that helped him find faith in a dark time in his life. LaBeouf said he will soon be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, the actor appeared on \u201cBishop Barron Presents: Conversations at the Crossroads\u201d and talked about studying for the Pio role which he said led him to convert, admitting that he always had a belief, but no connection. LaBeouf said he was \u201cnever an atheist,\u201d but instead agnostic and credited \u201cPio\u201d with saving his \u201clife\u201d at a time he described as \u201cnuclear\u201d because roles had dried up. In 2021, LaBeouf was facing a variety of allegations, including abuse.<\/p>\n<h3>How LaBeouf Found His Faith<\/h3>\n<p>In preparation for the role he believed would finally restart his career, the director told LaBeouf he would need to do some research and go to a seminary. LaBeouf ended up going to a seminary near his home and met Brother Jude, who told him if he\u2019s going to play Pio, he needs to read the Gospel. LeBeouf started doing just that at a time when he felt hopeless.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had a gun on the table. I was outta here,\u201d the \u201cHoles\u201d star admitted. \u201cI didn\u2019t want to be alive anymore when all of this happened. Shame like I had never experienced before \u2014 the kind of shame that you forget how to breathe. You don\u2019t know where to go. You can\u2019t go outside to get like, a taco. \u2026 But I was also in this deep desire to hold on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt stops being this prep of a movie and starts being something that feels beyond all that,\u201d he added. \u201cThe reach-out had happened. I was already there; I had nowhere to go. This was the last stop on the train. There was nowhere else to go \u2014 in every sense.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know now that God was using my ego to draw me to Him,\u201d LaBeouf continued. \u201cDrawing me away from worldly desires. It was all happening simultaneously.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>What\u2019s Next for LaBeouf?<\/h3>\n<p>LaBeouf is currently in RCIA and is scheduled to be confirmed in seven months. He hopes that Bishop Robert Barron will come down to confirm him. In the meantime, he talks to Fr. Bobby once a week to discuss his spiritual journey.
