The apprehension followed another <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/republicans-target-mayorkas-for-contempt-and-impeachment-over-terrorists-crossing-border\/\" title=\"GOP aims to hold Mayorkas in contempt and impeach him for allowing terrorists to enter through the border.\">terror watch list bust<\/a>\u00a0of an Afghan national in California the previous week.<\/p>\n<p>Since the start of the government&#8217;s 2023 fiscal year last October through April, Border Patrol agents on the southern border have prevented 96 illegal immigrants on the FBI terror watch list from entering the country. In that same period, Border Patrol made more than 1.1 million apprehensions, meaning the percentage of known or suspected terrorists is very low.<\/p>\n<p>However, Border Patrol has seen an additional 1.5 million people illegally enter the country since President Joe Biden took office, but agents were unable to respond to the sightings.<\/p>\n<p>CBP officers who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/pakistani-illegal-immigrant-on-fbi-terror-list-arrested-at-border-day-after-title-42-ended\/\" title=\"FBI-listed Pakistani illegal immigrant caught at border after Title 42 lift.\">inspect noncitizens seeking admission<\/a> at airports, sea ports, and land ports of entry nationwide have encountered 250 people on the list.<\/p>\n<p>The FBI database includes known and suspected terrorists and can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-says-pro-life-texas-law-blatantly-violates-roe-v-wade\/\" title=\"Biden Says Pro-Life Texas Law \u2018Blatantly Violates \u2018 Roe v. Wade\">include family members<\/a> or affiliates of such people.<\/p>\n<h3>Lack of Transparency<\/h3>\n<p>Up until early 2021, when Biden took office, CBP published press releases on its website when its Border Patrol agents apprehended a terror watch list individual. That practice and transparency have ceased over the past two years. CBP has not disclosed what prompted it to stop disclosing these types of arrests.<\/p>\n<p>FBI Director Christopher Wray testified before the Senate in August 2022 that although there was no &#8220;imminent threat from a foreign terrorist organization on the border at the moment,&#8221; terrorists were looking for any vulnerability to &#8220;exploit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>All options are on the table<\/strong>, said Scalise spokeswoman Lauren Fine in an email to the Washington Examiner.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house-republicans-considering-holding-mayorkas-in-contempt-of-congress\">Click here to read more from the Washington Examiner<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>House Republicans may hold Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas in contempt of Congress for failing to answer questions from three House committees on the number of illegal immigrants crossing the border.
