This shocking incident took place on May 30, when customer Celine Gonzales took a bite of her hot dog and found a bag of white powder, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kob.com\/new-mexico\/new-mexico-woman-finds-cocaine-on-sonic-hot-dog\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KOB<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Police responded and conducted a field test to determine the powder was cocaine. David J. Salazar, 54, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, which is a felony, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.riograndesun.com\/news\/cocaine-found-in-hotdog-from-espa-ola-sonic-drive-in\/article_3c645f3c-ffde-11ed-83d1-378de2e99474.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rio Grande Sun<\/a>. Police said Salazar\u2019s behavior indicated to them that he lost the baggie later found in the hot dog.<\/p>\n<h3>Legal Action and Customer Reactions<\/h3>\n<p>Merit Bennett of the Bennett Law Group is representing Gonzales, who is likely to make a claim against Sonic. When KOB went to the Sonic location, customers were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/patriots-star-patrick-chung-indicted-felony-cocaine-charge-faces-potential-prison-time\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">not pleased<\/a> at learning what took place.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cI think that\u2019s pretty scary. We come here to get food for our families, and if a child found that, it could have been pretty bad or deadly,\u201d one woman said.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cThat\u2019s kind of crazy. I just got an ice cream.
