Speaking at a CNN <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/joe-biden-knows-he-messed-up-on-fracking-at-debate-and-is-now-doing-damage-control-the-daily-wire\/\" title=\"Joe Biden Knows He Messed Up On Fracking At Debate And Is Now Doing Damage Control | The Daily Wire\">town hall<\/a> in Iowa on June 4, Haley, who is running for the GOP presidential nomination in 2024, said that this would prompt Congress to take action.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m telling you, Jake, that would fix it right away because no one else would put up with what these veterans are having to put up with,\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Nikki Haley<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>The State of Veterans Affairs<\/h3>\n<p>Haley lamented the state of the Veterans Affairs, citing that, on average, it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nikki-haley-aims-to-require-members-of-congress-to-get-health-care-from-veterans-affairs\/\" title=\"Nikki Haley wants Congress to use VA healthcare.\">takes veterans 29 days<\/a> to get an appointment at the VA, which in turn reschedules with patients on the 29th day in order to reset the clock as, starting on the 30th day, veterans can go wherever they want to get health care.<\/p>\n<p>Haley also decried both the lack of telehealth to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cvs-closing-900-stores-amid-pivot-toward-health-hub-model\/\" title=\"CVS Closing 900 Stores Amid Pivot Toward \u2018Health Hub\u2019 Model\">provide mental health services<\/a> and addiction centers. \u201cThe fact that we\u2019re treating our best in this way is a travesty,\u201d said Haley, referring to veterans.<\/p>\n<h3>The Plight of Veterans<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Around 33,000 veterans are homeless, according to the VA and the Department of Housing and Urban Development.<\/li>\n<li>According to the VA, \u201cat some point in their life, 7 out of every 100 veterans (or 7 percent) will have PTSD.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Additionally, as of 2020, an average of around 17 veterans take their own lives every day, according to the VA.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Haley\u2019s husband, Michael Haley, a major in the South Carolina Army National Guard, is set to deploy to Africa soon for a year. During the town hall, regarding her husband\u2019s deployment, Nikki Haley said, \u201cIt\u2019s not our first rodeo. He did this when I was governor.\u201d She joked that \u201che seems to find really interesting times [to be deployed].\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDeployments are never convenient,\u201d she added. \u201cBut they\u2019re necessary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s time for Congress to take action and fix the broken VA system.
