They first filed a lawsuit to stop the action in 2014, noting at the time that more than 50 permits had been issued by the federal government without public or environmental review, according to the Center for Biological Diversity.<\/p>\n<p>Kristen Monsell, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/federal-judge-rebuffs-biden-administration-blocks-gulf-of-mexico-drilling-leases\/\" title=\"Federal Judge Rebuffs Biden Administration, Blocks Gulf Of Mexico Drilling Leases\">oceans legal director<\/a> at the Center for Biological Diversity, hailed the Supreme Court\u2019s decision as an \u201camazing victory for California\u2019s coast and marine life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFracking is incredibly dangerous and has no place in our oceans,\u201d she said in a statement. \u201cThis decision will prevent more toxic chemicals from poisoning fish, sea otters, and other marine life. And it brings us a step closer to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrats-strike-offshore-drilling-ban-after-manchin-opposition-report\/\" title=\"Democrats Strike Offshore Drilling Ban After Manchin Opposition: REPORT\">ending offshore drilling<\/a> once and for all.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Oil Companies Argue Injunction is &#8220;Premature&#8221;<\/h3>\n<p>In January, the American Petroleum Institute, Exxon Mobil, and a California refinery had asked the Supreme Court to review the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/court-reinstates-louisiana-ags-lawsuit-against-zuckerbergs-election-meddling-group\/\" title=\"Court Reinstates Louisiana AG\u2019s Lawsuit Against Zuckerberg\u2019s Election-Meddling Group\">appellate court decision<\/a>, arguing in a court filing that the injunction was \u201cpremature\u201d and \u201cthreatens to stall vital energy projects\u201d beyond the California area, especially since there are no pending applications to begin fracking in the region.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf allowed to stand, the decision below will undermine the development of oil, natural gas and renewable energy on the entire Outer Continental Shelf,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n<h3>No Pending Applications to Frack in the Region<\/h3>\n<p>There are currently 14 oil and gas fields in federal waters off California but no pending applications to frack, according to court documents.<\/p>\n<h3>Appellate Court Ruling Prohibits Interior Department from Issuing More Permits<\/h3>\n<p>The June appellate court ruling also prohibited the Interior Department from issuing more permits in the region until it completed both an Endangered Species Act consultation and an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/environmental-groups-cheer-keystone-shutdown-now-demand-biden-shut-down-all-pipelines\/\" title=\"Environmental Groups Cheer Keystone Shutdown, Now Demand Biden Shut Down All Pipelines\">environmental impact statement<\/a> that considers both \u201cthe environmental impacts of extensive offshore fracking\u201d and \u201cfully and fairly evaluate[s] all reasonable alternatives.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Read More from the Washington Examiner<\/h3>\n<p>For more information on this topic, click <a href=\"#\">here<\/a> to read the full article from the Washington Examiner.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Supreme Court rejected a challenge to a court order prohibiting fracking off California&#8217;s coast, dealing a blow to oil companies.
