Rumpel&#8217;s daughter, 2-year-old granddaughter, and a nanny went down with the plane, as well as a pilot.<\/p>\n<h3>Incident Details<\/h3>\n<p>The jet was owned by Encore Motors of Melbourne, Florida, which Rumpel and his wife own, according to federal records cited by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/crashed-plane-behind-dc-chaos-owned-by-maga-donor-couple\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Daily Beast<\/a>. It was intercepted by two F-16 jets after it flew into the restricted airspace over Washington, D.C. A total of six jets were scrambled in response to the incursion, but only two &#8220;inspected&#8221; the private jet, officials of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-kjp-cant-pronounce-canada-know-norad-disastrous-msnbc-interview\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">North American Aerospace Defense Command<\/a> told the Post. The private jet appeared to be flying on autopilot, the Daily Mail reported. The Cessna was not shot down, according to federal officials.<\/p>\n<h3>Investigation and Reaction<\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;We know nothing about the crash,&#8221; Rumpel told the Post. &#8220;We are talking to the FAA now &#8230; I&#8217;ve got to keep the line clear.&#8221; The National Transportation Safety Board will be leading the continuing investigation into the crash.<\/p>\n<p>Rumpel has a history of donations to Republican candidates and causes, including former President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/mike-pence-launching-presidential-campaign-next-week-aiming-new-strategy-fight-trump-reports\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Donald Trump<\/a>, Florida Gov. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-desantis-loses-protester-calls-fascist-not-let-win\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ron DeSantis<\/a>, Sen. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/mitt-romney-dumps-ice-cold-water-liz-cheneys-presidential-ambitions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mitt Romney<\/a>, and numerous state Republican parties, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opensecrets.org\/donor-lookup\/results?name=John+Rumpel&#038;order=desc&#038;sort=D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Open Secrets<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The tragedy has shocked and saddened many, with Rumpel telling the Times, in a breaking voice, that if the plane had lost cabin pressure, &#8220;they all just would have gone to sleep and never woke up.&#8221; Virginia State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller told The Post that first responders found no evidence of survivors when they located the crash site that evening.<\/p>\n<h3>Flight Path and Final Moments<\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;Data from flight tracking service Flightradar24 shows a plane matching the Citation&#8217;s description and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/branson-wins-billionaire-space-race-hits-53-miles-above-earth-in-rocket-plane\/\" title=\"Branson Wins Billionaire Space Race, Hits 53 Miles Above Earth In Rocket Plane\">flight path<\/a> reaching Long Island before turning around,&#8221; the Post reported. &#8220;The plane flew directly over Washington before the data ends near Staunton, Va.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Despite the efforts of the F-16 pilots, the tragic outcome was unavoidable.
