The Miami-Dade Commission on Ethics &#038; Public Trust has charged DeFillipo with three counts of voter fraud, which is a violation of the North Miami Beach city charter that requires elected officials to live in the city. <\/p>\n<p>Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle has stated that cell phone data tracked DeFillipo\u2019s on three occasions when he drove from Davie to North Miami Beach to vote in elections held in August, October, and November. \u201cIt wasn\u2019t as if, \u2018Oops, I forgot once.\u2019 This is three times in rapid succession,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">We in law enforcement take actions which violate our election laws very seriously. They are crimes. However, Rundle does not agree. \u201cWe believe the evidence shows (DeFillipo) voted illegally three times,\u201d she said, adding. \u201cOur voting laws apply to everyone. There are no unwritten exceptions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>DeFillipo\u2019s attorney Michael Pizzi, disputed the charges against the mayor. \u201cThe mayor has explained over and over again, and under oath, he always intended to and always lived in North Miami Beach,\u201d Pizzi said, according to CBS.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/voter-fraud-cases-stemming-from-jailhouse-voter-registration-drive-in-florida\/\" title=\"Voter Fraud Cases Stemming From Jailhouse Voter Registration Drive in Florida\">voter fraud charges<\/a> are felonies that carry a sentence of up to five years in prison. DeFillipo is the third North Miami Beach city official arrested in a matter of weeks.
