Rep. James Comer (R-KY), chairman of the House Oversight Committee, has sent a letter to Morris demanding records from him and raising concerns over Morris&#8217;s ownership of the BHR stake.<\/p>\n<h3>Investigation into Biden Family&#8217;s Shady Business Practices<\/h3>\n<p>&#8220;The circumstances surrounding Hunter Biden\u2019s transfer of his interest in a Chinese-backed investment fund are suspicious to the Committee,\u201d Comer told the Washington Examiner. \u201cThe Oversight Committee will continue investigating the Biden family&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ice-cream-machine-broke-lawsuit-details-mcflurry-machine-manufacturers-desperate-attempts-to-keep-its-repair-racket\/\" title=\"\u2018Ice Cream Machine Broke\u2019: Lawsuit Details McFlurry Machine Manufacturer\u2019s Desperate Attempts To Keep Its \u2018Repair Racket\u2019\">shady business practices<\/a> and influence peddling to determine whether the Biden family has been targeted by foreign actors and if there is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/state-dept-spox-largest-threat-to-u-s-national-security-are-u-s-cops\/\" title=\"State Dept Spox: \u2018Largest Threat to U.S. National Security are U.S. Cops\u2019\">national security threat<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>Opaque Transaction Raises Concerns<\/h3>\n<p>Andy McCarthy, a contributing editor at National Review and a former federal prosecutor, told the Washington Examiner that \u201crest assured, if this were a Trump story, it would be the only story in America \u2014 on Capitol Hill and in the media.\u201d McCarthy said it appears Hunter \u201chas quietly transferred some or all of the entity through which he held the stake \u2014 Skaneateles LLC \u2014 in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/potential-for-bribery-media-silent-about-hunter-bidens-anonymous-art-sales\/\" title=\"\u2018Potential For Bribery\u2019: Media Silent About Hunter Biden\u2019s Anonymous \u2018Art\u2019 Sales\">opaque transaction<\/a> with Kevin Morris\u201d and argued that \u201cgiven that a ten percent stake in Bohai Harvest RST could be worth many millions of dollars, and given how patently that would enable China to exert influence over the Bidens, investigating it should be a congressional priority.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Chinese Investment Firm&#8217;s Controversial Ties<\/h3>\n<p>BHR has invested in a number of controversial Chinese companies that have been sanctioned by the U.S., and it teamed up with a Chinese defense company that helped build up the Russian military and has been implicated in assisting the Kremlin war effort in Ukraine. BHR\u2019s website says the Chinese company currently manages more than 15 billion Chinese yuan \u2014 more than $2.11 billion \u2014 in assets and that the company \u201cbenefits from the support of its Chinese stakeholders\u201d including the state-owned Bank of China.<\/p>\n<h3>Hunter Biden&#8217;s Confidante and Hollywood Lawyer<\/h3>\n<p>Kevin Morris is a wealthy Hollywood A-list lawyer who, until the Hunter saga, was best known for representing the creators of South Park and helping co-produce their Broadway musical, \u201cThe Book of Mormon.\u201d Morris reportedly met Hunter in December 2019 at a Biden presidential campaign fundraiser. Hunter and Morris lived in Los Angeles and reportedly became close, and Hunter named Morris as part of \u201cthe outstanding team behind this book\u201d when he published his 2021 memoir.<\/p>\n<h3>Questions Remain Over Hunter Biden&#8217;s Involvement<\/h3>\n<p>Representatives for Hunter Biden said last year that he had paid off a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hunter-biden-appears-in-court-today-for-paternity-dispute\/\" title=\"Hunter Biden Appears in Court Today for Paternity Dispute\">roughly  million past-due tax bill<\/a>. He allegedly did so by taking out a massive loan from Morris, who has been helping shape his media narrative and legal strategies. The new BHR document states that the registered capital of the company will be considered 30 million Chinese yuan \u2014 approximately $4.23 million \u2014 and further states Skaneateles will continue to own 10% of BHR\u2019s registered capital, totaling 3 million Chinese yuan (roughly $423,000). The records from BHR were first unearthed by the Marco Polo investigative group and reported on by several media outlets.<\/p>\n<h3>Joe Biden&#8217;s Promise<\/h3>\n<p>Joe Biden promised in December 2020 that \u201cmy son, my family will not be involved in any business, any enterprise, that is in conflict with or appears to be in conflict, with the appropriate distance from, the presidency and government.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Questions Remain Unanswered<\/h3>\n<p>Washington, D.C.\u2019s Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs informed the Washington Examiner in March 2022 that there have been no filings submitted for Skaneateles since October 2021, when a two-year report for the entity was filed that listed Hunter Biden as the sole &#8220;governor&#8221; of the company. Skaneateles is listed as &#8220;revoked&#8221; in the DCRA&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/exclusive-new-records-cast-doubt-on-hunter-bidens-claim-he-finally-divested-from-chinese-private-equity-firm\/\" title=\"EXCLUSIVE: New Records Cast Doubt On Hunter Biden\u2019s Claim He Finally Divested From Chinese Private Equity Firm\">online business registry<\/a> because a $300 &#8220;reinstatement fee&#8221; had not yet been paid for the LLC.
