Seventy-one GOP members and 46 Democrats voted \u201cno.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Republican Chip Roy of Texas and Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York both opposed the bill, but, as you might imagine, for different reasons.<\/p>\n<p>Roy referred to the bill as a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/4024342-chip-roy-blasts-biden-mccarthy-debt-ceiling-deal-as-turd-sandwich\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">turd sandwich<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ocasio-Cortez\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/house\/4027503-<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-red-wave-of-conservative-women-elected-to-congress\/\" title=\"The Red Wave of Conservative Women Elected to Congress\">ocasio-cortez<\/a>-says-shes-voting-against-debt-limit-bill\/&#8221; target=&#8221;_blank&#8221; rel=&#8221;noopener&#8221;>take<\/a> was surprisingly less blunt: \u201cI mean, where do we start? [No<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/op-ed-we-now-have-proof-its-impossible-for-the-us-government-to-balance-its-books\/\" title=\"Proof: US Government Cannot Balance Books.\">] clean debt ceiling<\/a>. Work requirements. Cuts to programs.
