Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe suit was outrageous and another example of the Biden administration weaponizing the DOJ for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gov-desantis-makes-feb-6-ronald-reagan-day\/\" title=\"Gov. DeSantis makes Feb. 6 Ronald Reagan Day\">political purposes<\/a>.\u201d &#8211; Sen. Steve Daines (R-Mont.)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo now the Biden Justice Department has decided to play politics.\u201d &#8211; Roman Stuffer, Campaign Manager for Jim Justice II<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Republicans are up in arms over the Department of Justice\u2019s lawsuit against the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/politicized-republicans-decry-doj-lawsuit-against-gop-senate-candidates-business\/\" title=\"Republicans criticize DOJ lawsuit against GOP Senate candidate's business as 'politicized'.\">coal enterprise<\/a> of West Virginia Governor Jim Justice II. Justice is currently running for Senate against incumbent Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.).<\/p>\n<p>The DOJ announced the lawsuit on May 31, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/republicans-say-doj-has-gone-totally-rogue-after-lawsuit-against-2024-senate-contender\/\" title=\"GOP claims DOJ is 'totally rogue' for suing 2024 Senate hopeful.\">citing unpaid court fines<\/a> and reclamation fees for Justice\u2019s 13 coal companies. The suit names James Justice III, the governor\u2019s son who took over running the companies after Justice II was elected as governor.<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Sen. Steve Daines (R-Mont.) both criticized the lawsuit, with Capito calling it \u201cpoliticized\u201d and Daines calling it \u201coutrageous\u201d and an example of the Biden administration \u201cweaponizing\u201d the DOJ for political purposes.<\/p>\n<p>The Justice campaign has also denounced the lawsuit, characterizing it as a political move against the Republican candidate. Campaign manager Roman Stuffer accused the Biden administration of \u201cpanicking\u201d over polls showing Justice in the lead.<\/p>\n<h3>DOJ \u2018Gone Totally Rogue\u2019<\/h3>\n<p>Republicans see the lawsuit as yet another example of inappropriate actions by the DOJ.
