Rand Paul Seeks Release of U.S. Government Documents on COVID-19 Origins<\/h2>\n<div class=\"post_content\">\n<div class=\"aplayer_app\" data-source=\"https:\/\/vs1.youmaker.com\/assets\/2023\/0602\/93c544cd-25f8-4d12-98fe-88620434aa93\/audio.mp3?length=3570669&#038;duration=298\"><\/div>\n<p>Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) is on a mission to uncover the truth about the origins of COVID-19. He is seeking the release of U.S. government documents that may show links between risky U.S.-funded research projects and the origins of the virus.<\/p>\n<p>Paul has been requesting these documents for years, following concerns that the SARS-CoV-2 virus could have been created through \u201cgain of function\u201d experiments.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been trying to get COVID records for three years and my concern with the COVID Records is that the U.S. government funded a lot of research that was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/sen-rand-paul-blocking-biden-nominees-until-covid-19-documents-released\/\" title=\"Rand Paul blocks Biden nominees over COVID-19 document release.\">risky research called \u2018gain<\/a> of function\u2019 research,\u201d Paul told NTD News on Thursday. \u201cSome of that research was funded in China, some of it\u2019s been funded in our country. And I think that we need to find out about all of that research and it needs to come to the public, it needs to be reviewed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As part of his effort to compel the current administration to release any records relating to the origins of COVID-19, Paul is now vowing to block President Joe Biden\u2019s nominees.<\/p>\n<p>In a Thursday morning interview on Fox Business\u2019s \u201cMornings with Maria,\u201d Paul said the Biden administration has refused to turn over the records for going on three years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m in the process of blocking nominations, of blocking legislation, if they will not help me to get records. And so this is going on in two major committees that I\u2019m on: the Foreign Relations Committee as well as the Homeland Security,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019m telling you, I\u2019m not letting anything pass unanimously, I\u2019m blocking everything until you finally turn over some of these records on COVID.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Signs of COVID-19 Lab Origin<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Paul noted the spike protein of the SARS-CoV-2 virus had a rare feature, known as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/european-scientists-scientists-in-wuhan-lab-created-sars-cov-2-has-no-credible-natural-ancestor\/\" title=\"European Scientists: Scientists In Wuhan Lab Created SARS-CoV-2, Has \u2018No Credible Natural Ancestor\u2019\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/who-meets-to-discuss-variant-of-covid-19-spreading-in-south-africa\/\" title=\"WHO Meets To Discuss Variant Of COVID-19 Spreading In South Africa\">furin cleavage<\/a> site<\/a>, which has been attributed to COVID-19\u2019s high transmissibility in humans.<\/li>\n<li>Paul also noted a 2018 research proposal, submitted to the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), proposing to insert a furin cleavage into a bat coronavirus.<\/li>\n<li>The proposal was reportedly submitted by the EcoHealth Alliance, a U.S. organization with past ties to the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) in Wuhan, China, where the first COVID-19 cases were reported.<\/li>\n<li>DARPA rejected the EcoHealth Alliance\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/playing-with-fire-a-lab-made-frankenstein-covid-19-virus-by-boston-university\/\" title=\"Playing With Fire: A Lab-Made Frankenstein COVID-19 Virus by Boston University\">proposed experiment<\/a>, but Paul questioned the coincidence of the proposal along with the fact that the SARS-CoV-2 virus is the first SARS-related betacoronaviruses to have this furin cleavage.<\/li>\n<li>Some proponents of the theory that COVID-19 originated from a lab leak see the furin cleavage as evidence supporting the claim.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cWhen we got COVID-19, we discovered it\u2019s the first coronavirus of its kind to have a furin cleavage site,\u201d Paul said. \u201cThey were asking us for money to do [the furin cleavage experiment]. [The COVID-19 outbreak] happened in the same city blocks away from the same lab. Sounds like a lot of coincidences here. So we want a thorough investigation of all of the research that we\u2019ve been funding.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Some scientists have argued that the furin cleavage site seen on the SARS-CoV-2 virus could have occurred naturally, but Paul remains skeptical and is determined to get to the bottom of the issue.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not saying I know what happened, but I\u2019m saying we need to investigate it,\u201d Paul said. \u201cAnd the only way we can investigate it is if we have all of the records of all of the research that was done.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Paul\u2019s efforts to uncover the truth about the origins of COVID-19 are ongoing, and he is determined to hold those responsible accountable for their actions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sen.
