After the FBI refused to comply with lawmakers&#8217; requests for records related to President Joe Biden&#8217;s time as vice president, Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley and House Oversight Chairman James Comer of Kentucky subpoenaed the agency earlier this month. The lawmakers claim that the document in question implicates Biden in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/senator-grassley-fbi-and-doj-will-damage-their-credibility-further-if-they-dont-cooperate-with-subpoena\/\" title=\"Grassley warns FBI and DOJ to cooperate with subpoena or risk credibility damage.\">criminal scheme involving<\/a> a &#8220;foreign national.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>[RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/05\/04\/chuck-grassley-demands-doj-cough-up-document-over-criminal-scheme-involving-joe-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Chuck Grassley Demands DOJ Cough Up Document Over Criminal Scheme Involving Joe Biden<\/a>]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Despite the subpoena, the FBI has refused to comply with the lawmakers&#8217; demands, prompting Republicans to threaten FBI Director Christopher Wray with contempt charges. Comer launched proceedings on Tuesday to hold Wray in contempt.<\/p>\n<figure>\n<blockquote data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<div lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<p>\ud83d\udea8\ud83d\udea8\ud83d\udea8<\/p>\n<p>Today, the FBI informed <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GOPoversight?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@GOPoversight<\/a> that it will not provide the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/marjorie-taylor-greene-attacks-biden-criminal-family-and-says-oversight-will-hold-wray-in-contempt\/\" title=\"Greene slams Biden's 'criminal family' and threatens to hold Wray in contempt.\">unclassified documents subpoenaed<\/a> by the Committee.<\/p>\n<p>The Committee will now be taking steps to hold FBI Director Wray in contempt of Congress for refusing to comply with a lawful subpoena.<\/p>\n<p>Statement.\ud83d\udc47 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/VY3WudlFkG\">pic.twitter.com\/VY3WudlFkG<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n<p>On Wednesday, Grassley and Comer released statements following their discussion with the FBI director.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;While the FBI has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fbi-director-wray-threatened-with-contempt-over-stonewalling-republican-oversight\/\" title=\"FBI Director Wray faces contempt threat for obstructing Republican oversight.\">apparently leaked classified information<\/a> to the news media in recent weeks, jeopardizing its own human sources, it continues to treat Congress like second class citizens by refusing to provide a specific unclassified record,&#8221; Grassley said. &#8220;Director Wray confirmed what my whistleblowers have told me pursuant to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/irs-whistleblower-alleges-hunter-biden-probe-misconduct\/\" title=\"IRS Whistleblower Alleges Hunter Biden Probe Misconduct\">legally protected disclosures<\/a>: the FBI-generated document is real, but the bureau has yet to provide it to Congress in defiance of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/comer-demands-access-to-biden-document-after-fbi-fails-to-comply-with-subpoena\/\" title=\"Comer requests Biden document access after FBI ignores subpoena.\">legitimate congressional subpoena<\/a>. This failure comes with consequences.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;While Director Wray \u2014 after a month of refusing to even acknowledge that the form existed \u2013 has offered to allow us to see the documents in person at FBI headquarters, we have been clear that anything short of producing these documents to the House Oversight Committee is not in compliance with the subpoena,&#8221; said Comer.<\/p>\n<p>The FBI is also stonewalling Republican requests on a pair of pipe bombs found at the DNC and RNC headquarters in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 6, 2021. House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan of Ohio re-upped demands for an FBI briefing on the case last week. According to Kyle Seraphin, a former FBI agent who worked on the case, the agency has tracked down the suspect&#8217;s car but has not identified the culprit.
