This comes just months after Carlson was nominated to the top position.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cBased on your record, we are deeply concerned that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration will follow the EPA\u2019s lead and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/senate-republicans-raise-alarm-over-biden-highway-nominee\/\" title=\"GOP Senators Concerned About Biden's Highway Nominee\">propose similarly radical vehicle fuel economy standards<\/a> that run contrary to the law, diminish vehicle choice, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/why-college-prices-have-spiraled-out-of-control-and-bailouts-wont-help\/\" title=\"Why College Prices Have Spiraled Out Of Control And Bailouts Won\u2019t Help\">impose higher costs<\/a> on American families, and undermine our national and energy security all while [benefiting] China.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>Opposition to Carlson\u2019s Nomination<\/h3>\n<p>Officials did not provide a reason for the move, but Carlson\u2019s nomination had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/disgraced-former-senator-lobbying-senate-republicans-to-confirm-a-criminal-judicial-nominee\/\" title=\"Disgraced Former Senator Lobbying Senate Republicans to Confirm a Criminal Judicial Nominee\">faced fierce opposition<\/a> from Republican leaders who raised concerns over her track record at the agency, including her past environmentalist positions on climate issues.<\/p>\n<p>In May, all 13 Republicans on the Senate Commerce Committee, led by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), signed a letter to Carlson stating their concerns over her past work at NHTSA and past career which they said suggests \u201cNHTSA intends to mimic the EPA\u2019s [Environmental Protection Agency\u2019s] draconian EV [electric vehicle] mandate.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Industry Groups Call for Rejection of Nomination<\/h3>\n<p>A coalition of 43 oil and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/americans-are-hurting-19-states-urge-congress-to-reject-policies-that-would-cause-higher-energy-prices\/\" title=\"\u2018Americans Are Hurting\u2019: 19 States Urge Congress To Reject Policies That Would Cause Higher Energy Prices\">gas industry groups<\/a>, including the Western Energy Alliance, American Petroleum Institute, and National Ocean Industries Association, also called on the Senate to reject Carlson\u2019s nomination, citing her plans to \u201cgo beyond the agency\u2019s congressionally mandated mission on traffic safety, despite record highway deaths, to instead turn NHTSA into a climate change enforcement body.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During her time at the administration, Carlson has overseen safety probes into Tesla, and efforts to reduce traffic deaths and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-officially-pulls-nominations-of-us-auto-safety-agency-head-2-judges\/\" title=\"White House withdraws nominations for US auto safety agency head and 2 judges.\">boost vehicle fuel economy requirements<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Epoch Times has contacted the White House for further comment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>withdrawn by President Biden for the position of administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a few months after her nomination.
