He has threatened to advance contempt of Congress charges against FBI Director Christopher Wray if he fails to hand over a document alleging a criminal scheme involving President Joe Biden by May 30.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cLet me tell Director Christopher Wray right here, right now: If he misses the deadline today, I\u2019m prepared to move contempt charges in Congress against him.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The allegations stem from a May 3 letter by House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) and Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), which revealed that the FBI possessed an unclassified record that \u201cdescribes an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/senator-grassley-fbi-and-doj-will-damage-their-credibility-further-if-they-dont-cooperate-with-subpoena\/\" title=\"Grassley warns FBI and DOJ to cooperate with subpoena or risk credibility damage.\">alleged criminal scheme involving<\/a> then-vice president Joe Biden and a foreign national relating to the exchange of money for policy decisions.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5280772\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2023\/05\/21\/id5280772-GettyImages-1460829313-1200x800.jpg\"><br \/>\n\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/img.theepochtimes.com\/assets\/uploads\/2023\/05\/21\/id5280772-GettyImages-1460829313-1200x800.jpg\" alt=\"Rep. (Kevin Dietsch\/Getty Images)\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><\/noscript><\/figcaption><\/a><br \/>\n\t<\/figure>\n<p>Despite repeated requests, the FBI has refused to hand over the document, leading McCarthy to suggest that the agency views itself as above Congress.<\/p>\n<h3>Lack of Respect for Congress<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cComer subpoenaed the document,\u201d McCarthy said. \u201cWe have jurisdiction over the FBI, which they seem to act like we do not.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/mccarthy-threatens-to-charge-fbi-director-with-contempt\/\" title=\"McCarthy may charge FBI Director with contempt.\">echoed earlier comments<\/a> by Comer, who said, \u201cThey [the FBI] don\u2019t respect anyone in Congress.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf he does not follow through with the law, we will advance contempt charges against Christopher Wray and the FBI. (Mandel Ngan\/Pool via Reuters)\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><noscript><\/noscript><\/figcaption><\/a><br \/>\n\t<\/figure>\n<p>Democrats have dismissed Comer\u2019s inquiry as partisan, but Republicans have long sought to learn more about possible ethical concerns in the Bidens\u2019 business dealings.<\/p>\n<h2>The Bidens\u2019 Business Dealings<\/h2>\n<p>In January 2023, Comer sent a request for information related to art sales made by Hunter Biden. Just weeks before the 2020 election, the New York Post published a report documenting findings from Hunter Biden\u2019s laptop, which had reportedly been forgotten at a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-truth-about-hunter-bidens-laptop\/\" title=\"The Truth About Hunter Biden\u2019s Laptop\">computer repair shop<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Among other findings, emails on the laptop revealed that while he was still the vice president, Joe Biden had been introduced to a top executive at the Ukrainian energy firm Burisma.<\/p>\n<p>In December 2015, Joe Biden candidly admitted to the Council on Foreign Relations in 2018 that he threatened to withhold a $1 billion loan guarantee from Ukraine if a prosecutor looking into Burisma was not removed from his post.
