Nancy Mace Opposes Fiscal Responsibility Act<\/h2>\n<p>Republican Rep. Nancy Mace of South Carolina has come out in opposition to the Fiscal Responsibility Act, a compromise proposal between President Joe Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy to raise the U.S. debt limit and avert a default, she announced on Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>Mace, who represents South Carolina\u2019s 1st Congressional District, said that she couldn\u2019t support <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/biden-mccarthy-come-initial-debt-ceiling-agreement-deal\/\">the deal<\/a> because the cuts to spending were too low and placed no limits on borrowing, according to a lengthy Twitter <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepNancyMace\/status\/1663510647190040578\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">thread<\/a> published on Tuesday. She also cited provisions, termed the \u201cfine print,\u201d which allegedly contradict aspects of <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.house.gov\/billsthisweek\/20230529\/BILLS-118hrPIH-fiscalresponsibility.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the bill<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why Mace Opposes the Bill<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The cuts to spending were too low<\/li>\n<li>No limits on borrowing<\/li>\n<li>The bill doesn\u2019t actually set a debt limit<\/li>\n<li>Provisions contradict aspects of the bill<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Mace is the latest House Republican to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/conservative-house-republicans-threaten-sink-biden-mccarthy-deal-going-try\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">come out against the bill<\/a>. Over Memorial Day weekend, several House Republicans were reported to be in opposition to the bill, including Reps.
