Version: 4.0.47--><h2>President Biden Champions Bipartisan Budget Agreement to Avoid Default on National Debt<\/h2>\n<div class=\"post_content\">\n<div class=\"aplayer_app\" data-source=\"https:\/\/vs1.youmaker.com\/assets\/2023\/0529\/77fe683d-b659-49e8-b4d7-bc90dafffae0\/audio.mp3?length=4628493&#038;duration=386\"><\/div>\n<p>President Joe Biden is championing the new <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.house.gov\/billsthisweek\/20230529\/BILLS-118hrPIH-fiscalresponsibility.pdf\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/flashback-democrats-cut-trumps-replenishment-of-oil-reserve-when-prices-were-cheap-strike-a-blow-to-big-oil\/\" title=\"Flashback--Democrats Cut Trump\u2019s Replenishment of Oil Reserve when Prices Were Cheap: Strike a Blow to Big Oil\u00a0\">bipartisan budget agreement<\/a><\/a> to avoid a default on the national debt, saying it \u201cprevents the worst possible crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The administration and House Republican leaders looked to garner support for a tentative deal to increase the country\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-says-deal-reached-as-lawmakers-on-both-sides-express-concerns\/\" title=\"Biden announces agreement despite bipartisan worries.\">borrowing limit amid ballooning government debt<\/a> following weeks of intense negotiations.<\/p>\n<p>Following the announcement that both sides reached an \u201cagreement in principle,\u201d the president said the deal takes \u201cthe threat of catastrophic default off the table\u201d and ensures the nation\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-says-debt-limit-deal-reached-as-lawmakers-on-both-sides-express-concerns\/\" title=\"Biden announces debt limit agreement, lawmakers express worries.\">economic recovery moves ahead<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Biden repeated the White House talking point that the agreement is a compromise in a divided government, meaning that \u201cno one gets everything they want.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut that\u2019s the responsibility of governing,\u201d he said, adding that it keeps Democrats\u2019 key priorities, such as Social Security and Medicare, intact.<\/p>\n<p>The legislation\u2014the Fiscal Responsibility Act\u2014will now head to both chambers of Congress, where the president has urged lawmakers to pass the agreement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet\u2019s keep moving forward on meeting our obligations and building the strongest economy in the history of the world,\u201d he told reporters on May 28.<\/p>\n<h3>What Republicans Are Saying<\/h3>\n<p>Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have been vocal in their disappointment about the debt limit deal.<\/p>\n<p>Some Democrats say the president made too many concessions, while several members of the GOP caucus argue that McCarthy gave up too much and failed to attach many of the provisions in the GOP\u2019s proposed \u201cLimit, Save, Grow Act.\u201d<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colo.), who has been vocal about his displeasure over the negotiations, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepKenBuck\/status\/1662961513144156162\">wrote<\/a>\u00a0on Twitter that he thinks Democrats are the winners and \u201cgot everything they wanted with this bill and don\u2019t have to defend their reckless spending prior to the 2024 election.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Speaking with Fox News on May 28, Rep. Ralph Norman (R-S.C.) asserted that Republicans are the only party that can restore fiscal sanity to Congress. Still, the deal with the administration \u201cfails to uphold that responsibility,\u201d he said.<\/li>\n<li>Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) wrote on Twitter that this is another example of \u201chalf-baked compromises\u201d and why the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gao-warns-of-unsustainable-fiscal-future\/\" title=\"GAO Warns of \u201cUnsustainable Fiscal Future\u201d\">federal government faces<\/a> a $31 trillion national debt.<\/li>\n<li>Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green (R-Ga.) said she is confident that the GOP still possesses the momentum in Washington,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepMTG\/status\/1662961639702904832\">noting<\/a>\u00a0that \u201cthis is a game of inches\u201d and urging everyone to read the bill before making a final decision.<\/li>\n<li>Rep. Dusty Johnson (R-S.D.) disagreed with some of his colleagues. As part of last year\u2019s \u201cInflation Reduction Act,\u201d lawmakers gave the tax-collecting agency $80 billion in new funding.
