It is always possible that the Republicans will snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. They&#8217;ve done it before, and maybe it&#8217;ll get torpedoed. But this would be a serious fault by the Republicans. The truth is that they have won this,&#8221; Gurdon told Fox News on Monday.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Gurdon pointed to Biden finally deciding to negotiate after insisting for months that he would not negotiate and to House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/debt-limit-hugo-gurdon-says-deal-should-pass-with-a-substantial-majority\/\" title=\"Hugo Gurdon believes the debt limit deal should pass with a strong majority.\">wanted food stamp recipients<\/a> to receive benefits without having a job.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The Democrats have been in retreat throughout this, and Republicans have clearly won the PR battle, and that&#8217;s a first for them,&#8221; Gurdon added.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The key now, Gurdon said, is for McCarthy to approach this without taking a massive victory lap.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He has to say to his own caucus, &#8216;Look, we got a lot here, and we won,&#8217; but he can&#8217;t do it to the extent that it&#8217;s going to alienate a few Democratic votes that he&#8217;s likely to need.
