Because, to be honest I like it, [but] I have something at home that is more important than basketball.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Nuggets center explained that that\u2019s probably the main takeaway from his relatively new fatherhood.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI knew that [family is more important than basketball], but this is going to prove me that I\u2019m correct,\u201d Jokic said.<\/p>\n<p>The Nuggets star became a father in September 2021, and his young daughter became an instant internet hit after a viral moment with her father during the Nuggets\u2019 second <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/lebron-james-is-unraveling-as-the-lakers-find-themselves-in-a-tailspin\/\" title=\"LeBron James Is Unraveling As The Lakers Find Themselves In A Tailspin\">round playoff series<\/a> against the Phoenix Suns.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Nikola Jokic and his daughter shared a moment after Game 2, pointing to their ring finger   <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/XQWJrDHtuV\">pic.twitter.com\/XQWJrDHtuV<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Bleacher Report (@BleacherReport) May 2, 2023<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The younger Jokic pointed to her finger, a gesture her dad reciprocated, to reference the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/son-of-nfl-star-arrested-for-stealing-fathers-super-bowl-rings\/\" title=\"Son Of NFL Star Arrested For Stealing Father\u2019s Super Bowl Rings\">championship ring<\/a> the Nuggets were pursuing.<\/p>\n<p>Again, how refreshing is it to have an NBA superstar who\u2019s a family-first, anti-diva? Jokic doesn\u2019t come off as an NBA superstar (which he is) who happens to be a father. He comes off as a father who happens to be an NBA superstar.<\/p>\n<p>And that perspective and mindset is so important in 2023. The downside to fatherlessness is well-worn territory at this point, but it doesn\u2019t make the problem any more dire.<\/p>\n<p>Jokic is obviously a present father, but it\u2019s the lessons he\u2019s imparting that take him from \u201cpresent\u201d to \u201cgood.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/demi-lovato-happens-against-gender-reveal-celebrations-there-are-males-with-vaginas-and-women-with-penises\/\" title=\"Demi Lovato HAPPENS Against Gender Reveal Celebrations: \u2018There Are Males With Vaginas And Women With Penises\u2019\">modern society<\/a> that seems to grow increasingly antagonistic against nuclear families in favor of soulless things like a relentless pursuit of career or material wealth, Jokic\u2019s brutal honesty that basketball is \u201cprobably never going to be\u201d the most important thing in his life is an incredible thing to hear from him.<\/p>\n<p>Family and priorities so often get warped when discussing celebrities (\u201cDid you see who Celebrity X is cheating on Y with?\u201d) that it highlights how tragically rare comments like Jokic\u2019s are.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, career and such are important, but largely in the context of them being a means to supporting your family.
