Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is furious over how much President Joe Biden has agreed to concede in the debt ceiling agreement with House Republicans and GOP Speaker Kevin McCarthy.<\/p>\n<p>Just ahead of the agreement, which raises the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/us-slams-debt-ceiling-means-veterans-retirees-federal-workers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">debt ceiling<\/a> for about two years, Ocasio-Cortez \u2014 who is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/aocs-spending-rant-jfk-rolling-grave-highlights-far-dems-fallen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">huge advocate<\/a> for wild spending sprees \u2014 was seen at the podium in our nation\u2019s capital excoriating McCarthy for not conceding to everything the Democrats wanted in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/senator-toomey-democrats-dont-need-a-single-republican-vote-to-pass-their-3-5-trillion-bill\/\" title=\"Senator Toomey: Democrats \u2018Don\u2019t Need A Single Republican Vote\u2019 To Pass Their .5 Trillion Bill\">debt ceiling debate<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-conversation=\"none\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Rep <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AOC?\">@AOC<\/a>: \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SpeakerMcCarthy?\">@SpeakerMcCarthy<\/a> has responsibility to concede. So if he wants any Democratic support, he has to come to the table &#038; we have seen him over &#038; over again say that he will not negotiate, that they\u2019re engaged in hostage taking, not negotiation. Extortion, not conversation\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/5niqk0Qb1C\">pic.twitter.com\/5niqk0Qb1C<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Tom Elliott (@tomselliott) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/tomselliott\/status\/1661451070302740480?\">May 24, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI want to reiterate one point,\u201d Ocasio-Cortez said on Wednesday, three days before Biden folded and gave Speaker McCarthy a victory on the debt ceiling. \u201cThe reason why anyone is asking anyone on this stage about what we would vote for is because Kevin McCarthy needs our votes. Because Kevin McCarthy doesn\u2019t have the votes. Because Kevin McCarthy is going to the White House without a majority of his caucus.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe does not have what is necessary to negotiate. And for any, any question about what anybody would settle for, he has a responsibility to concede,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, if he wants any Democratic support, he has to come to the table. And we have seen him over and over again say that he will not negotiate. That they are engaged in hostage taking, not negotiation, extortion, not conversation,\u201d she angrily continued. \u201cAnd that is not something we can establish, it is not something we can reinforce in this country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe proposal that we see on this table right now that Kevin McCarthy and the Republican caucus have put down has been an absolute rejection of the same reckless tax cuts that were passed in 2017 that we said at the time would explode the debt ratio, that would explode the deficit,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/aoc-hit-ethics-complaint-alleged-repeated-blatant-violations-federal-law\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ethics challenged<\/a> New Yorker said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd now, several years later, we are in this scenario. And instead of them recognizing the error of their ways, they want to protect tax cuts on yachts and private jets and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/watch-furious-aoc-loses-it-when-asked-what-dems-were-willing-to-concede-during-debt-talks\/\" title=\"AOC gets angry when asked about Dem concessions in debt talks.\">make single moms pay<\/a> for it,\u201d she added. \u201cAnd that\u2019s where we say no. That\u2019s when we say the American people did not elect House Progressives so that we can lay back while people\u2019s food benefits are cut. We\u2019re here to fight for working families. And so this is the last caucus to ask what are we going to give up in terms of people\u2019s food, in terms of people\u2019s healthcare, in terms of veterans. And the time is now to ask the Republican caucus why they are valuing billionaires over veterans and single mothers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is shameful,\u201d the New York \u201csquad\u201d member exclaimed, \u201cwe can put an end to it, and it only takes five of the 18 Republicans that are in Biden-carried seats,\u201d she insisted.<\/p>\n<p>Ocasio-Cortez\u2019s many proclamations in that little sound clip, though, are incorrect. Republicans have been uncharacteristically united on McCarthy\u2019s negotiations on the debt ceiling debate, not fractured as Ocasio-Cortez tried to claim. And, not only that, but her central point that tax cuts drive up the federal debt has never been true, despite the constant claim by Democrats that they do. The only thing that drives up the federal debt is a rise in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/mccarthy-cites-key-stats-show-spending-not-revenue-causing-debt-problem\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">government spending<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans have noted that the deal Biden agreed to stops out-of-control inflationary spending, cancels billions in unspent COVID funds, begins to reign in the president\u2019s executive overreach, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fda-finalizes-ruling-to-improve-access-to-hearing-aids\/\" title=\"FDA finalizes ruling to improve access to hearing aids\">cuts red tape<\/a> in the energy sector, lifts Americans from poverty with new work requirements for assistance benefits, slashes Biden\u2019s funding for 87,000 new IRS agents, blocks tax hikes, and protects seniors, veterans, and national security.<\/p>\n<p>The deal even brought former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich to applaud McCarthy for a \u201cdramatic victory.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">The Debt limit deal is a dramatic victory for Speaker McCarthy and House Republicans.
