You know, the tort claims notice that I filed is just standard procedure. That\u2019s something that has to be filed to protect the interests not only of the families but the victims and the community.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>The suspect was indicted two weeks ago on charges including first-degree murder and appeared in court on Monday for his arraignment.<\/li>\n<li>He <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/murder-suspect-pleads-not-guilty-to-killing-of-four-university-of-idaho-students\/\" title=\"Murder suspect denies killing four University of Idaho students.\">reportedly stood silently<\/a> when the judge asked him to enter his plea, so the judge entered a plea of not guilty on his behalf.<\/li>\n<li>With pleas set, prosecutors now have 60 days to decide whether to pursue the death penalty.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The suspect&#8217;s public defender also asked the judge to set a trial date in October.<\/p>\n<h3>Idaho&#8217;s New Law on Execution Methods<\/h3>\n<p>Idaho Republican Gov. Brad Little signed a law earlier this year that would make the state the fifth in the nation to authorize a firing squad as a method of execution if no <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/liberty-nation-news-headlines-breaking-alerts\/\" title=\"Liberty Nation News \u2013 Headlines \u2013 Breaking \u2013 Alerts\">lethal injection drugs<\/a> are available, according to the nonprofit <a href=\"https:\/\/deathpenaltyinfo.org\/news\/idaho-steps-closer-to-using-the-firing-squad-for-executions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Death Penalty Information Center<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThe law gives the director of the Idaho Department of Correction up to five days after a death warrant is issued to determine if lethal injection is available.
