While conceding the GOP didn\u2019t get everything they asked for, McCarthy argued on \u201cFox News Sunday\u201d that the deal is a \u201cstep in the right direction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Democrats\u2019 reckless spending is unsustainable and irresponsible,\u201d McCarthy tweeted Sunday morning. \u201cSo we are changing how Washington operates by shutting down Biden\u2019s COVID slush funds, blocking his new tax proposals, and ending the out-of<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/can-biden-help-unite-america\/\" title=\"Can Biden Help Unite America?\">-control spending<\/a> that is driving up inflation.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The Democrats&#8217; reckless spending is unsustainable and irresponsible. This is going to be transformational where Congress is literally going to vote to spend less money this year than we spent last year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McCarthy touted the deal\u2019s reforms, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/changing-how-washington-operates-kevin-mccarthy-defends-tentative-debt-ceiling-deal\/\" title=\"Kevin McCarthy defends debt ceiling deal, aims to change Washington's operations.\">including cutting red tape<\/a> and protections for the military and veterans. Despite pushback from some Republicans, McCarthy said \u201c95%\u201d of the party was \u201coverwhelmingly excited\u201d about what was in the deal, and he expects GOP politicians to support it.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO) criticized the deal, calling it a \u201csurrender.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe bottom line is that the U.S. will have $35 trillion of debt in January, 2025. That is completely unacceptable,\u201d Buck said.<\/p>\n<h3>Vote on Wednesday<\/h3>\n<p>When asked if he was worried about a motion to oust him from the Speaker role \u2014 which can begin with a single member, a concession McCarthy made during his bid for the position \u2014 he said, \u201cNot at all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The bill will sit for 72 hours for public review. McCarthy said the House will vote on Wednesday.
