It\u2019s not going to happen,\u2019\u201d she said. \u201cI told her I had a four-and-a-half month tubal pregnancy, and she says, \u2018Well, you survived, didn\u2019t you?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The constitutional amendment <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2022\/11\/09\/michigan-abortion-amendment-results-2022-00064778\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">passed<\/a> in November.<\/p>\n<p>Jacobson was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/2022\/oct\/01\/michigan-man-charged-with-shooting-elderly-woman-in-abortion-altercation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">going<\/a> door-to-door volunteering with Right to Life, a national anti-abortion organization. Harvey\u2019s wife, who is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.woodtv.com\/news\/ionia-county\/man-who-shot-pro-life-volunteer-it-was-an-accident\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pro-abortion<\/a>, said she asked Jacobson to leave multiple times, and eventually Jacobson stepped off their front porch.<\/p>\n<p>Harvey said he heard a \u201cbunch of screaming\u201d and came out of the barn with a .22-caliber rifle and first fired a warning shot.<\/p>\n<p>Harvey said he then accidentally shot Jacobson.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe is still ranting and raving and she\u2019s got this clipboard. She\u2019s waving it around. I\u2019m thinking she\u2019s going to smack Sharon with it. So without thinking, I went to club it away with the rifle and my finger was still in the trigger guard. It went off and hit her about in here,\u201d Harvey <a href=\"https:\/\/www.woodtv.com\/news\/ionia-county\/man-who-shot-pro-life-volunteer-it-was-an-accident\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a> local News 8, pointing to his right shoulder.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI shot somebody. It was an accident,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Jacobson said she believes Harvey shot her intentionally.<\/p>\n<p>Right to Life said Jacobson was peaceful and was walking away when she was shot in the back. Harvey disputes that\u2019s how the shooting unfolded. Jacobson suffered a shoulder wound and drove herself to a nearby police station. She was treated at a hospital and recovered.<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-9096\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1685124530010000&#038;usg=AOvVaw2IMwz0_UmyM8nO4-uO1BT-\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Harvey also received a suspended jail sentence of two months, meaning he will likely not serve time if he does not break the law. He also received a delayed sentence of one year on probation, and he must pay $347.19 in restitution. He is also barred from any contact with Jacobson.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, Harvey pled no contest to felonious assault, careless discharge of a firearm causing injury, and reckless discharge of a firearm.<\/p>\n<p>Without Michigan\u2019s new constitutional amendment enshrining legal abortion, a 1931 law banning abortion with no exemptions for rape or incest could have taken effect.
