Doug Burgum is preparing to enter the 2024 presidential race and will make an announcement early next month, a source familiar with the governor\u2019s plans confirmed to the Daily Caller News Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>Burgum, the state\u2019s 33rd governor, will make a \u201cmajor announcement\u201d on June 7 in Fargo, North Dakota, where he\u2019s expected to enter a growing field of Republican candidates for president, according to the source.<\/p>\n<p>The governor is already filming television advertisements in preparation for a campaign launch, the DCNF previously confirmed.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/north-dakota-gov-doug-burgum-poised-to-enter-gop-presidential-race-d6676d43?mod=mhp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Wall Street Journal<\/a> first reported Burgum\u2019s June 7 announcement and presidential plans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a value to being underestimated all the time,\u201d Burgum told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inforum.com\/news\/north-dakota\/doug-burgum-is-mulling-a-run-for-president-could-he-be-a-contender-in-a-party-that-loves-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Inforum<\/a> on May 13, after stating his interest in 2024 following the conclusion of North Dakota\u2019s legislative session.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s a competitive advantage.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">The 68th Legislative Assembly has officially adjourned its regular session. Doug Burgum (@DougBurgum) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DougBurgum\/status\/1652586635807145984?\">April 30, 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Burgum overwhelmingly won the governorship in 2016 by nearly 60 points, and secured reelection in 2020, where he beat his Democratic challenger 65.8% to 25.4%.<\/p>\n<p>The governor has high approval rating within the state, entering his first term with 69% support, and garnering 58% just after he won reelection, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/morningconsult.com\/governor-rankings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Morning Consult<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The growing Republican primary field gained two new candidates this week, with South Carolina Sen. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-republican-senator-jump-2024-presidential-race-using-high-profile-endorsement-launch-campaign\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tim Scott<\/a> entering the race on Monday and Florida Gov. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/tech-glitch-doesnt-stop-desantis-tallying-eye-popping-fundraising-haul-first-24-hours-blowing-past-trump-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ron DeSantis<\/a> highly-anticipated campaign launch Wednesday evening.<\/p>\n<p>Along with Scott and DeSantis, Burgum would face former President Donald Trump, former U.N. Ambassador <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/nikki-haley-set-announce-presidential-bid-first-called-trump-4-words\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nikki Haley<\/a>, former Arkansas Gov.
